How hot is PV in August? Is it Palm Desert hot? Like 113 degrees or a more manageable 90-100? Is there a lot of humidity?

We usually vacation in August around DH B-day and I would really like to try someplace otherthan Hawaii. But I am afraid that the weather will be too miserable.

We have 2 kids so our vacations usually entail the beach, the pool, the beach, the pool, etc. etc. So if we are near or in the water most of the time will it be too hot ?

I hate humidity. So should PV be on my possible list of destinations or should we stick to Hawaii?

ThAnks for the feed back.

Puerto Vallarta has a lot of heat and humidity now and most likely in August too so I would stick to Hawaii. I couldn't believe how hot and humid and smoggy it was in May two years on a row.

We normally go in January and February and then it is very pleasant there. We also went in November and we liked that too, especially the nice, balmy evenings. You can't beat Hawaii for the climate but we have never gone in August either so it may be quite warm and humid too. It all depends if there are trade winds blowing or not.

If you hate humidity, you should avoid PV in August. High temps will be in the low 90's, but combine that with a short thundershower almost every afternoon and you can cut the humidity with a knife. PV is fantastic from October to April. Plan on going then.

We visited in late Aug in 05 and iit was mid to high 80's with high humidity. You usually get late day or evening thunderstorms. It's the slow season for PV so you might want to look else where.

I agree with the others. If you hate humidity, you'll not be a happy camper in August in PV. Even if you can tollerate being sweaty as soon as you are done showering or the minute you step outside, heat with humidity can really zap ya.

It's also apples & oranges on the temperature comparison. While the thermometer may register 90 the heat index could be upwards of 100+. Having grown up in southern California where 100+ degree days and no air conditioning weren't uncommon, the heat in Mexico during the summer is a whole nother animal.

there's a lot to be said for the phrase "it's a dry heat"

You could try Cabo in August. It's not as humid as PV and it would be a short plane ride for you from California.

Cabo

So how hot and humid is Cabo?

It really sounds like PV will have to wait for us. I would hate to drag my family to PV and have my husband want to kill me over the humidity:D

What resort would you recommend in Cabo? For PV I was looking at Paradise Village which I think the kids would really enjoy. I really have never even looked at the exchange possibilities in Cabo. I guess I'll have to start.

Thanks for the impute.

So how hot and humid is Cabo?
. . . What resort would you recommend in Cabo?

Here's a little bit about Cabo weather. It's usually in the mid-90's or so in August but I don't know the specific humidity percentage. We own a fixed week the second week of August and go every year.

As for a resort recommendation, are you looking to trade with RCI or II? Our resort is Pueblo Bonito Rose, trades with RCI, and is one I would recommend as it's on a safe, swimmable beach (Medano Beach) and is within walking distance of town. Others I'd recommend are Pueblo Bonito Blanco, next door to PB Rose; Playa Grande; and Marina Fiesta. Playa Grande isn't on a swimmable beach but has a nice pool area and is near enough to Medano Beach to get there and also close to town.

Would be looking for a trade through II. I would want a swimmable beach and a nice pool. If the pool had a slide for the kids even better:D

Thanks Pam

Why dont you try Canada or Glacier Park/Montana. Banff is great in August.

My grandkids are Floridians and they love Utah Mountains. I would suggest Utah but this July has been the hottest on record since the 1870 or something like that.

Cabo was hot in Aug but little, humidity, Look into Vill Del Palmar, Arco and Cabo Villas through II. They are on a swimmable beach. Avoid the Cabo San Lucas beach and tennis club. This is the ME Cabo and is very kid unfriendly and loud unrelaxing resort.

Cabo is humid in August. The first time I went there was in third week of August. I thought I would die. March and April was much more comfortable. Aruba may be better because of the breeze.
