I recently purchased platinum 7000 points at Internation drive in Orlando. I made my first reservation for March 14-21 and was charged a $49 booking fee. My understanding was booking during my season at my home result was free.

Can someone explain if I was incorrectly charged or if I miss understood the member's guide?

Thanks

The reason the representative charged you the 49.00 fee was your home resort check in is on saturday. Even though you are staying a full week at your home resort in the same type of unit in order to avoid the bopoking fee you must follow the resort check in and check out date listed int eh big book of rules. You booked a platinum season but your checkin and check out dates are sunday.

This was explained to me last year when I booked at my home resort at Sea world and had to pay a fee as I wanted Friday to Friday. I hope this helps and this is what they explained to me,

Rookie Mistake - I'm actually there from March 12-21 but I was waiting to book the 12th and 13th via open season.

Thanks

In addition, you have to book it during the Home Week period

Only Home week reservations are complimentary

From the Club Fee Schedule (on page 143 of the 2010 Club Member Guide)

RESORT RESERVATIONS FEE
Home Week - Complimentary
Non-changeable Home Resort or Club Reservations - $59.00 (via phone)
Changeable Home Resort or Club Reservations - $79.00 (via phone) / $49.00 (online)

Note: Home Resort (currently applies only to West 57th Street by Hilton Club)

From the HGVC Rules ( on page 137 of the 2010 Club Member Guide)

Home Week reservations are full week (seven consecutive nights) reservations at the resort at which a Member has an ownership interest in the season and unit type owned, checking in on the resort’s standard check-in day, (“Home Week”) during a period of time referred to as the “Home Week Reservation Window.” During the Home Week Reservation Window, a Member has a priority reservation period to reserve their Home Week. This window lasts approximately ninety (90) days beginning one (1) year (365 days) prior to the start date of the desired checkin date and ending nine (9) months (276 days) in advance of the desired check-in date
