Open season question?

Hi,

I'm still waiting for my ROFR to pass and have another question.

During open season which resorts can you book?

Is it only the true HGVC's or can you also book the affiliates like in Southwest Florida?

and....

Is there a list of the resorts available for open season?

What resorts are usually available easily for Open Season?

thats a good question. I notice we don't even see those "other" resorts for any sorta online booking. At least I have not seen them.

As for availablity, I think it depends on the time of year and location. I know for instance that if you were not fussy for where you stayed in Vegas, there was places available from b4 xmas thru new years. Course Flamingo had the least amount (trust me I was looking) But word to wise, when looking for OS, check early, check often (like couple times a day) they will pop up and be gone otherwise. I was watching for 3 days 27-30th for a 2 BR, only saw it once, and when tried to book the system did not work and next morning when I tried again it was gone. (was at flamingo) We had reservations at other places but wanted to try to stay there if we could to keep couple of extended family closer.

So do you have to call to do Open Season bookings for the affiliate resorts?

I would guess so. I have only found the following on page 28 of the 2010 MG (I would guess best to call Member services to confirm)

OPEN SEASON RESERVATIONS
When you have a more spontaneous spirit of travel, consider Open season reservations using cash at Club affiliated resorts and RCI resorts .
• Make reservations starting 30 days before your check-out date and up to one day before your check-in date .
• two-night minimum stay (for RCI resorts, three-night minimum stays and additional check-in requirements apply)

Yes.

The SW Florida affiliates will show any availability online, but you have to call to book. I've only used open season for an affiliate one time (Eagle's Nest).
The Sanibel affiliates are rarely available for open season.

Well that's good news. I don't care too much for Sanibel anyway and was hoping for Marco or Ft. Myers beach. Thanks.

IIRC, I've seen Sanibel properties available only in the midde of Summer. [Yuck!]

Just as an example, open season availability for the next 30 days for affiliates includes scattered dates for:
Valdoro (Breckenridge)
2 resorts in Scotland
1 resort in Portugal
4 resorts on Marco Island
1 resort on Hutchinson Island (Florida)
Bay Club (Waikoloa Hawaii)

(Also, all 12 HGVC developed resorts)

I guess this is a good month to travel HGVC. Thanks.
