I have 2 silver 2 bedroom weeks [deleted]. They are worth 3500 points each. With the current market, these weeks are worth very little. Earlier this year I talked to Samuel who works with Seth Nock and he suggested to list these weeks for $1000 each. I don't know what his commission is but if these weeks are worth so little, it might not be worth his time if he only gets offers for less than that.

So, what is the best way to sell these weeks?
Will I have to give these units away?
Has anyone sold a week like this recently and how did you sell it?

I know MANY BUYERS would rather deal with a KNOWN licensed real estate broker/brokerage than an internet person, an ebay sale, craigslist or a random ad. If there is NO onsite broker for your timeshare or HOA, Seth's office does have a reputation and if you have a person working there willing to list your weeks, why not?

What is the worst that could happen: he doesn't sell your weeks? He learns something that his broker didn't teach him.

What is the best that could happen: YOU are no longer owner of those weeks. And at a price you didn't think you would get.

I suggest going with Seth.

Find out the commission. Normally commission is % of the sale with a stated minimum.
Be willing to consider offers that may be for less so you can get rid of them.

There are lot of 3500 points on the market (For example do a search on Judi's site judikoz.com for all HGVC resorts with 3500 points). These are not the most desirable weeks.

If selling it isn't feasible, we have an active market for free timeshares on TUG:

-You can give it away yourself for nearly no cost.
-You can control the transfer process to make sure it is truly transferred out of your name.
-You won't have to deal with companies that may or may not be Legit.
-You can transfer it to a private individual who will be happy to have it for their own use.
-You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you ended your ownership legally and ethically.

There are TWO places on TUG where you can give away your TS's for free (no charge for the Ads.) THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT - SO YOU SHOULD POST IN BOTH AREAS. There are other cheap and free sites on the internet, as well.

TUG Marketplace - the only cost is your TUG membership - $15 (List it for $1 and it will automatically go in the Bargain Basement Ads.)

Bargain Deals - Totally FREE! - just write a simple post with all the pertinent info. In your post, include the following info.:
-resort name
-unit size
-season owned
-maintenance fee
-current reservations

To make it more attractive I would:

1) Pay the 2013/2014 maintenance fees and don't ask for reimbursement.

2) Pay for the title transfer (you can get a simple title transfer with no escrow or title search for about $100.) Many Tuggers (including me) have been using Legal Timeshare Transfers, a no frills document preparation company, and they are receiving good reviews on TUG.:

3) Reserve a popular holiday week in 2013/14 for the new owner

4) Instead of paying a fee to a rescue company - consider offering a cash incentive to the new owner.

5) Here is the very important step that most people miss: Come back to TUG once a week and add more info. to your thread - this will bump it to the top of the page.

Good luck!

You could also contact HGVC and ask them if they would offer you anything.
HGVC does not advertise this, but I've heard of them offering a buy-back.
Of course, it'll likely be less than what you might get yourself, if anything.
