I looked over the Wyndham Manual and read through it a couple of times, and in addition to learning more about how the system works, I was very interested in how many points the various resorts require for their reservations.

I realized that I didn't know if Wyndham can or does change these points amounts from time to time. Do they?

The point TOTAL can not change for a UDI resort. Realigning the point values between season, in theory, can happen.

I see. In your experience, have the points amounts been realigned between seasons very often, from time to time, or very infrequently?

And thank you for your response.

There have been changes to point values for some associate locations, but these obviously fall outside of the typical UDI category.

change of points.

Total number of points at a resort is always fixed and cannot change. However, the amounts can be fiddled with a bit for week to week or day to day depending on demand. But they will not change much overall if they did. Disney tweaked their charts a few years ago because there was a huge discrepancy between Sun-Thurs points and Fri-Sat. So much so that people would only book Sun-Thurs. They robbed points from Fri-Sat to balance out Sun-Thurs.

They will only change once a year, if that, and you will know many months ahead of time so you can properly plan your vacation stay.

With Wyndham ... I can't recall the points charts changing. The imbalances between demand and its ranking of seasons can be found and several seem odd.

Points charts once established never change. True?

I have never heard of the points chart for a resort changing. It is our understanding that when a resort first comes into the Wyndham system that a points chart is established and it will never, ever change. That week x in unit size x will always be the same number of points at that resort.

You will notice the newer resorts, especially the presidential reserve units are much higher in points to book than the resorts that have been around for a long time. An incentive to get owners to buy more points to be able to go to the new resorts!

Anyone who bought years ago will recall that they used to start people out with 77,000 and 154,000 point packages because that was the amount it took to book a week, depending on the season and unit size. There are still a number of people who don't own anymore points than that. If the point charts for the resorts were to change then they would no longer have enough points to go for the "week" that they bought.

The amount needed to book a certain size and time period can change, but I have never read of any actually changing it. If they raise a Friday/Saturday 2 bedroom by 5,000 points, they would need to lower something else by the same amount.

The total amount of points at the resort can not change, as those are outlined in the original declarations.
