We went to an "update" on Monday and the salesperson took it personally that we'd purchased resale. He assured me that I would never again be able to get into a 4 BR presidential again because the newly updated computer will now be able to see that we are resale and limit the inventory available. He also took it to heart that he'd purchased his timeshare from Wyndham at developer prices and it was just not fair if I could get the same thing that he got with my resale purchase. He swore that if we didn't buy something from the developer, our resale points were going to be almost worthless.

According to our salesperson, all the woes of the world are due to resale purchases and the lack of owner satisfaction over not getting the desired units had to be addressed by eliminating the amount of use by "resale" owners.

Is this the usual scare tactic? Or has something drastically changed. I have not been around over the last year, so I may have missed something important.

Thoughts? And thanks in advance.

Based on your comments saying that the sales person stated this and that: he or her (if it was a woman) must have been moving his or her LIPS.

When there LIPS are moving beware of outright lies coming out of their mouth.

What was said was definitely a tactic meant to make you uncomfortable which is a terrible way for a professional to do business.

As a purchaser of one or more re-sell contracts you have the same rights as the original owner of the contract(s); with the exception of VIP privileges which do not transfer when the re-sell deed is put in your name.

Continue to enjoy your re-sale points and ignore any sales person who states that he or she is going to make it their personal mission to see to it that you cannot take advantage of the privileges that you as an owner are entitled to have.

Neither a salesperson, nor the Wyndham corporate can take away your contract rights. What does your contract say your points are good for?

My resale points are already almost worthless -- I paid $0.00399 per point for them. That's a little less than 3 points for a penny!

I personally consider a penny a point or so a much better price than the $150-$200 per point he was probably offering you!

I like worthless!

He assured me that I would never again be able to get into a 4 BR presidential again because the newly updated computer will now be able to see that we are resale and limit the inventory available.

First of all, the computer system can already tell what contract your points are coming from, and whether or not the resale flag is indicated for that contract.

Second, the only truth regarding differences of availability are related to Margaritaville properties, where VIP owners do get advance availability based on their VIP tier, and Presidential Reserve, where PR owners have PR inventory set aside at PR Resorts. Everything else is a free-for-all and from whence the points come matters not. If you have ARP at Bonnet Creek, and enough points deeded there to make the reservation, you will still be able to reserve a 4BR Presidential at 13 months out using ARP.

More fact-checking required for Wyndham sales presentations that the national conventions!
