Attended the owners update yesterday in National Harbor.

They say they are 92% sold out and were the most successful launch of a new resort in Wyndham history.

They then posted a chart on the big screen talking about how recession proof their ownership is. It had point levels for 400K, 700K and 1M and showed the changes in retail price from 2005 - 2016. I did write down the 2005 and 2016 numbers. 2005 - $58,000 for 400K, $101,000 for 700K, and $145,000 for 1M. Present day $100,400 for 400K, $175,700 for 700K, $251,000 for 1M points. They kept talking how much more valuable they will become in the future as they keep adding resorts.

To my dismay there were probably 50 people in the room drinking the Kool Aid excited to see how there ownership is increasing in value. I think 6 couples were platinum owners (OUCH!)

So when I sit down with my sales assistant that is going to help me get the best value out of my account. She hands me a paper showing me that I can get VIP status and be a normal part of the VIP family for $100,400 for 400K points, with 15% down and remaining amount finance at 16.99% (Ouch). So then I break it to her. I have two accounts with total of 406K points. That my entire sunk in cost is $1200.00 So with the $99,200 I saved I can afford to take a lot more vacations. She says what about the PERKS program, I said I am getting the most valuable of the PERKS program already. She said whats that. I said my $100 AMEX card for my 60-90 minutes of time today. :whoopie:

We do love our $100 gift cards! But we find Wyndham sales people to be so obnoxious we've sworn never to sit with them again. Plus I can't get over the fact that at Avenue Plaza we were duped into letting a sales person into our room. Front desk was swarming at check in, and we'd thought they were offering to bring discount coupons and info on New Orleans up to us to relieve the crush in the lobby. We were way too slow at catching on, but eventually held the door for the gal and ordered her out of our room.
