Going for a long weekend in the summer in one of the larger units. Invited friends to come with us in the same unit. They are coming from Montreal and we are coming from Toronto area and it is expected that they will arrive several hours earlier, with us at like 9pm or so. I used my guess certificate with their name on it so they can check in before us.

I understand from previous posts that only owners staying in the unit get the Smuggs pass, which is quite valuable. In the situation above, how can we ensure that we still get this?

Would you call the resort and explain (even if we can't get the Smuggs pass until we show up with ID, that would be okay).

Or do I have to change the reservation to my name and then they can't check in early?

I would call Wyndham and ask, but funny thing is, I tend to trust the feedback from TUG more than them...for some reason.

Thanks in advance

I would leave it in your name.
The smuggs passes are printed in advance and enclosed in the welcome packet you receive at check in.
If they see a non owner on the reservation they (the resort) wont print you your smuggs pass.
The check in area staff are resort employees (not Wyndham).
You will receive details about the resort and a room description directly from smuggs several weeks before your stay.

Once you get this packet call the RESORT (not wyndham) directly explain that you will be arriving late give them your friends name and perhaps offer to put your credit card on file for the "security deposit" so they know you will be there.

FYI the "smuggs pass" can be used to charge activities groceries and I believe food/drinks etc to the room.

Even if an owner is arriving later a guest certificate is still required. According to Wyndham anything less is cheating from every other owner in the Wyndham system. Hard to believe that is how they decide to treat us.

Being a non wyndham resort you may be alright. I am sure you will be able to sleep at night as well.

He already has a guest certificate so wyndham IS happy;)
Its the valuable smuggs pass he wants to get (and is entitled to since he will be there a few hours later).

Update

I called Wyndham and VC didn't know. They couldn't find the answer either. They didn't know that guests of owners don't get the smuggs pass, which resort did confirm when I called. Uggh.

VC gave me the resort number and after explaining twice (transferred in between ) resort said they put a note on the reservation so I can leave it as a guest certificate but I need to go in person to get the smuggs passes. My friend can check in, but they won't have passes until we get there. That works for me.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm really looking forward to this stay. :whoopie:
