Hi all. Just checking to see if anyone that has been to Cancun in the last couple weeks can comment on the beach conditions. I had lunch with a friend that had just returned from The Royal Cancun, and she mentioned that it was almost treacherous getting to the beach because of the lack of sand. She said that once they got out a little way, it was all fine. She also told me that the were pumping sand onto the beach, like they had done in 2005/2006.

I haven't seen anything posted regarding the conditions in front of either the Sands, or the Tri-Royals, and was hoping that someone lucky enough to visit recently could describe the beach. Thanks.

week 39 the beach in front of the caribbean was nice where the chairs and palapas are. The shore line was very rough with lots of broken up shells. The large boulders along the shoreline were partially exposed. Although the sea wasn't too rough, the red flags were out because of the rocks. In some places it's a drop off right after you get past them (near the lifeguard tower), in one section where we entered there was a bit of a sandy bottom where you could stand up (by the stairs between G&H building). The crashing of the waves was knocking about bits of broken rock, we got pretty cut up from it.

Over at the Sands they have a nice section of beach that was yellowflagged with easy entry and very swimable. The beach area with the chairs was at a bit of a pitch so you felt like you were sitting on a hill.

rumblings are of another beach restoration project for Cancun early next year.

Just got back from week 40 and 41. The beach is short and EXTREMELY rocky in front of the Tri-Royals. If you want to just lay on the beach you will be ok but we could only find an area of about 3 feet wide to get out into the ocean without tripping or falling on huge rocks. We finally just gave up and went to Sands to get in the ocean. While at the Sands we saw a ton of people from the Tri-Royals doing the same thing!
It was a Glorious 2 weeks!!!!! ( As usual!)

I´m in Cancun at Market 28 right NOW! We´re here because the weather is showers and cloudy and cool. To cool to be on the beach or by the pool.

The beach at the Tri Royals is short and rocky, but there are still plenty of people under the palapas.

Got to get shopping.

Will be back November 20.

I was at the Royal Carib week 39. The entire stretch from the Mayan to the Islander had exposed rocks (more like boulders). It was so bad that it was almost unswimable. However, the beach at the Sands was excellent. No rocks and you could walk out at least 70 yards and the water was waist high.

How was the Sands' sand - soft? sharp? ??
