I am staying at the Royal Islander in Febuary. I am an AVID runner that had two back surgeries about a year ago. I can ONLY run on grass!! Is there anyplace close to the Royal Islander that would have grass I could run on(a park, a golf course, trails, etc.) I don't like treadmills. Something between 2-3 miles. I figured if anyone would know, a Tugger would!! Thanks for your help!!!

There is a golf course at the Hilton, and that is not too far away. Just remember it will be hot, so you will want to do it very early in the day.

Yes, the Hilton's golf course, which is across the street from the Islander may be your best choice. There are no parks, as such in the area. However, if you walk out the front door of the Islander, and go down to the street ( Kukulcan Blvd) you will notice a grassy area along side the sidewalk going south. There are a number of paved driveways along the route but, you should be able to do a number of miles on the grass without a problem. Also, across the street, there is no sidewalk, but a pathway of sorts thru the grass which may be of some use. A word of caution however, on occasion, some of the manhole covers have been removed, and not replaced. Keep an eye on your fries.

The Hilton course is not actually across the street. I've played there and it's about 1/4 mile south. I'm not sure if they will allow joggers there. If they did it might cause insurance liability issues.
