We are heading to Orlando in June and are looking to spend one day in Universal studios. I realize this is a busy time, so would it be worth it to stay in the Hard Rock and get the unlimited fast pass for one day vs a regular ticket and stay the night in Grand Vista where we are staying for the week.

Thank You

Donna

Universal Express Pass is approximately $49.99 per person, per day in June in addition to the base ticket price. With that data point, you can calculate your break event point for buying Express Pass vs paying for one night at a deluxe hotel.

My wife works at Universal Studios, so we know many of the ins-and-outs. I'm not sure if Grand Vista has free transportation to the parks, but if you stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, you get a BOAT RIDE to Universal CityWalk, where you can walk to whichever park you want. Most rides' wait is not bad, but the big attraction this Summer will be the new HARRY POTTER section, known as Diagon Alley (requires 2-park pass). That one will probably have an EXTREMELY LONG line to get in.

So, I wouldn't worry too much about the Express Pass, as long as you have water handy (highs in the low 90s, high humidity, heavy thunderstorms during the afternoon (for 15 minutes). Also, plan on buying the $9 cup, because it costs $0.99 refills any day any time. Food prices start at $20/person including tip at the full-service restaurants. Emeril's has a 3-course meal for $22/person, probably the best restaurant there!

It's actually $55.99 for the first half of the month and $69.99 for the latter half. It's generally $69.99 during the higher season. It also is only valid one time per attraction. Many people have it so you still have a line. It is basically one of the biggest rip-offs in Orlando. It's a better deal if it is bundled with the ticket as an unlimited express pass which enables unlimited express, but still a ripoff.

Worth it to stay onsite.

I definitely think it is worth staying at one of te Universal hotels. That actually gives you 2 days to use the express pass. They let you use it the day you check in and the day you check out. I would not want to be at universal without an express pass.
