Assuming that I can't get Bonnet Creek & have to rent a car, what's the next best thing? I'd like somewhere that's super easy & quick to drive to WDW from.
Any time we're on vacation in Orlando, either we drive our own car all the way from home or we rent a car at the airport. We would rent a car even if we were staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek.Assuming that I can't get Bonnet Creek & have to rent a car, what's the next best thing? Silver Lake has a back entrance onto Sherbeth Road, which connects US-192 to Osceola parkway, over between AKL/AKV and AK. In some ways, this is even a better location than Bonnet Creek, because Buena Vista Drive is often stop-and-go with all the traffic lights, but once you're on Osceola, it's smooth sailing almost anywhere.
Orbit One is a "diamond in the rough" that even moderate traders can get. It's literally across US-192 from the Sherbeth Road entrance to property---you're only two traffic lights, total, from any theme park parking lot. The resort isn't anything to write home about, but the units are good-sized and well-kept. I put my dad up there a couple years ago, and while he isn't too picky, he liked it quite a bit.
Westgate Vacation Villas is just a little further south on the same road. Mostly this is in II, but it pops up in RCI every so often as well.
The other options would be Vistana and the Cypress Pointes. They are probably nicer resorts overall, but I get the sense that their access to the parks isn't quite as good.

Even so, Orlando is loaded with plenty of outstanding luxury timeshares, many of which aren't all that far from WDW -- if you're driving.
Our Orlando timeshares are approximately a mile from the Downtown Disney entrance off Rt. 535 -- but from there it's still a few miles inside Disney grounds before you get to Magic Kingdom, etc.
If you're interested in checking out our Orlando timeshares, which are both extremely nice, click here & also here.

I was concerned about the route to Disney on Buena Vista Drive.
Cypress Pointe -- both phases -- offers check-ins on Friday & Saturday & Sunday.I'm definitely going to look at Cypress Pointe, but it appears it's all Saturday check-in.

Even so, what's available for exchange depends on what the owners reserved to deposit, & it would be no surprise if most owners reserved conventional Saturday-to-Saturday weeks for their deposits.
Good luck.
