Car Rental in Jacksonville, FL

We want to rent a car in Jacksonville, FL in September 2009. We would rather not rent from the airport because it is very expensive. Does anyone know of a company that would shuttle you to an offsite car rental location?

the airport is in the middle of nowhere in regards to the city itself...that would be quite a shuttle.

however there are cabs available at the airport if thats what yer lookin for.

JAX aiport and rental cars

Our son and his family live about 10min from JAX in a new development and we have a standing joke - anywhere we need to go is 25min - no matter what I ask about - they tell me it's 25min... except the new mall.

When are you going? Car rentals seem to be way up all over now. I would wait until close to your date and then try priceline. (book something as a backup in the meantime)

Car Rental

Thanks for the replies. We have time so I think we will wait and probably try the Priceline idea.

Always book a car as soon as you know your dates. You can always cancel it with no penalty if you get a better priceline bid but if prices start climbing from what they are now, you might be glad you have something in hand.

JMHO - cars are one of the few no risk things you can book early.
