Go Boston card during peak season?

We'll be visiting Boston from July 3 through July 10. We're contemplating buying the Go Boston card, which gets you into pretty much all of the tourist attractions. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this card, especially during peak season?

Don't know about the card, but just returned from Boston (my daughter lives there) and we went to the Museum of Fine Arts for the Renaissance Art exhibit - it was great - I highly recommend it. Also, ate at some great restaurants. One is Laurel Grill on Berkley in the Back Bay - you can get a restaurant.com coupon for that. Also in the Back Bay we ate at Burtons (Boylston, I think) - the best Swordfish Risotto I have ever tasted.

Enjoy your visit.

Go Boston Card

I hadn't heard about the Go Boston card until I read this thread. However, we will be visiting Boston and Cape Cod from the UK in September so I have purchased two one week cards as there are attractions in Cape Cod where the card can be used too. Managed to save on the price in the sale which ended yesterday.

Any tips on the best way to make the most of this card both in Boston and the Cape would me most appreciated. We will be staying in the South End of Boston and the Mashpee area of Cape Cod so any good restaurant recommendations etc in those areas would also be much appreciated.

Thanks

Judith

I'd suggest that while in Boston you don't need a car - parking is very expensive and driving can be like a nightmare. Get a pass for the "T" (MBTA) which is the bus and subway system. It's normally $2 per ride, but you can get a 1 day pass for $7 or a 7 day pass for $15. Well worth it in my opinion. You can ride on the subway, the bus, or even the ferry system for no additional charges.

boston transport

Hello Falmouth3

Thanks for the suggestion about the transport which I will certainly take up. We are only picking up our hire car as we leave Boston to go to Cape Cod and from there on to Newport Rhode Island.

So looking forward to getting to Boston and hoping for good September weather. We are having a heatwave in the UK at present and not really liking it!

Best wishes

Judith

I hope the weather in Boston is good in Sept. too. It usually is lovely then. We have had a miserable June - cold and rainy. Now that it's July, the weather still hasn't improved. But it's got to be summer soon.

Boston

I had heard that the weather has been disappointing for June in Boston this year. We would normally have chosen to be there in June but could only get an II exchange for September into Cape Cod which is why we're travelling then.

Hopefully that time of year we will be luckier with the weather. We have just returned from two weeks in the south of England, Sussex and Kent, where we had great weather. We also had a good week in Hampshire in April so for once we seem to be having good weather over here although it's a bit too hot and humid for our liking at present.

I have had a mail to say that our Go Boston cards have been despatched so will look forward to deciding where and how we are going to use them. It's 20years since we were in Boston last although we have been to the US several times since then and I'm really excited.

Best wishes

Judith

Go Card did well by us in San Diego

While I can not speak specifically about the Go Boston Card, I can tell you it worked well for us in San Diego...and I believe the company is out of Boston, or at least on the east coast...which I would think would be an advantage. Our only difficulty with the card was that because we were on the West Coast, we had to start an attraction by 5:30 in order to get in. But other than that we found it to be very user friendly and gave up a lot for our buck.
