If you could choose???
if you could choose to go somewhere the first of October where would you go stay, relax, eat good food, enjoy the area? We need to fly US and have many different timeshare options. (wyndham, diamond, RCI, Interval). Concerned about weather in the east in the fall but think east is where we would like to travel. Thanks for the help. |

An admitted local bias here, but...
Quote:
As long as it's no later than early October, I'd certainly recommend somewhere in New England. More specifically, in Vermont, New Hampshire or the Berkshires area in western Massachusetts. There are timeshare options in and around Sunday River in (inland) Maine too . Much less foliage color in the coastal areas, including Cape Cod, since deciduous trees (the ones that turn color) are not particularly prevalent in coastal regions). That said, there are no Wyndham facilities in any of the above referenced states (I'm not sure how many, if any, Diamond options exist here either; I just plain don't know). You would most likley be looking at acquiring a RCI or II exchange, but be advised you would also be competing with many others seeking a "fall foliage" (aka Leaf peeper") week in New England.... |

Since you didn't specify a foliage trip, I would go with the Acadia National Park area of coastal Maine. II has 2 resorts in the area AVR and HRB with a combined total of about only 80 units, so an exchange will not be easy- but this year could be one of the easiest on record. The tourist season pretty much begins ending at the end of September, but there will still be plenty to keep someone busy.

I love the foliage in October in the Northeast too, but my favorite place to be in October is Florida. In NJ we get a lot of rainy days in October. In Florida the weather is perfect and no crowds.
This October we will only do a long weekend in NY but next October we're going to Englewood, FL. Our best week in Orlando was in October some years back. Anne |

You've been lucky on the Florida weather. October can also be wet there.
There are lots of great places right around the end of September or beginning of October. Wish my kids had a break then. Cape Cod and the Islands are terrific then. Tennessee would be nice because you'd be ahead of the leaf peepers that show up later in the month. Sheila |
