Another ? re: Southwest seating

I fly Southwest often, and know to be on the internet 24 hours before our flight to "check in" for A seating. However, all of my previous flights have been "direct" with no change of planes. For my upcoming trip to San Francisco, we need to change planes in Nashville. When I check in for the flight, will I get a ticket, (hopefully A) good for the entire trip (Philly----Nashville---Oakland), or must I check in for each portion of the trip?

Yes. I can't remember if it is automatic or you have to do it manually but you can do both legs at the same time.

You can check in for all legs of the flights 24 hrs before the first flight. Obviously, this is greater than 24 hrs before the earliest time someone not connecting can check in, ensuring you an early number.

When you go to the page to check in & print boarding passes, there's an option to "select all segments," or something like that. If you don't use that, you'll only get the boarding pass for the first segment--I found that out the hard way

Yes, when you checkin you will get boarding numbers for all segments of the flight. Be sure to checkin exactly 24hrs or less before your flight. You can go ahead and checkin via computer or your web enabled cell phone and can print your boarding passes later at home or the airport. I love SWA.

Thanks for the quick replies....I'll be sure to read the directions carefully, so that I check in for all segments of the trip.
