Airports closest to Fort Walton Beach

My son wants to fly from Syracuse, New York to the Fort Walton Beach area to
see his friend who's in the army. What airports are not too far away and
reasonably priced to fly into? Thanks. Judy

Resorts: Steamboat Grand, Rockies, The West, Club Regina and Allen House
Delta Commuter flies to Fort Walton Beach from Atlanta. The airport code is VPS and it shares runways with Eglin AFB. There are others that fly there as well. You could check Pensacola as well.

Cheers

Resorts: Sheraton Desert Oasis, Marriott Cypress Harbour, Fairfield points
Pensacola, FL

The cheaper airport to fly in to is Pensacola, FL ( PNS). Since Airtran came here thew rates are cheaper than VPS and Panama City airport. Gulf Port , MS is about 150 miles from VPS but has lots of casinos and might get cheaper junket there.

We flew from the Pacific Coast last year into Fort Walton Beach just as cheap as flying into Pensacola, where we've flown into many times. We really likes flying into Fort Walton Beach airport (Eglin Airbase) and you're RIGHT THERE! Pensacola is at least an hour drive away. I can't remember exactly.

The fares into Ft Walton (VPS) have very good for a few months now and so much easier than Pensacola.
