I have a 24 hour hold on this Resort (RCI) for June 2010. (Hotel room.)

Is there enough to see and do for a full week in the Monterey area? 1 to 1 1/2 hours away day trip would be OK.

Walt :)

I may be biased, but definitely! Monterey Bay Aquarium, 17 Mile Drive, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove, Carmel and its beautiful sand beach, drive down the Big Sur coast, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Shall I go on? For a great day trip, drive down the Big Sur coast all the way to San Simeon and go see Hearst Castle. Makes a bit of a long day, but worth it.

My only suggestion is to change the reservation to Spring or Fall. June is the start of fog season. I'm looking out the window of my office right now at a sea of fog. April/May and Sept/Oct are great times to see beautiful Monterey.

Blues- I loved your list but, you know how familiarity breeds contempt? Pacific Grove???!!!Unless the Monarchs are there or the glass bottom boats are still available at Lovers Point; what's there to see and do??!! You can see the same (or better) coastline on the 17 mile drive. Asilomar is kind of pretty but mostly for the conference attendee not the tourist. I guess it's been too many years. Frankly, it's 110 degrees here today, I could use some fog!!:bawl:

But you can't eat at Pepper's unless you go to Pacific Grovehttp://www.tugbbs.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

A week won't be enough!!!

If you're a golfer, there's a different course for every day you're here (the oldest course west of the Mississippi is right at the Hyatt).

Hey! Don't dis on PG! I lived there for 13 years. DW and I were married at Lovers Point 25 years ago next Feb. I guess I have a soft spot. But I love Lovers Point park. The beach there is in a protected cove -- great beach for the little ones. I much prefer the coastline from there around to Asilomar Drive compared to 17 mile drive, and it's free. That whole coastline is the best place to tidepool. And a hint -- the Fishwife at Asilomar in PG is better than the one in Seaside; probably the best seafood on the peninsula.

I'll trade you fog for 110 degrees for a day! I could use a nice heat bath right about now.
