Williamsburg Powhatan Resort

I have this on hold for August 2br 6/6. I know it will be hot, but other then that.....what do you think?
Friday check in so may go for the long weekend since it is actually for dd who cant get there til Monday. Why waste the days?

Never stayed at any resorts in Williamsburg. Glad to get this exchange at such short notice and besides the week is expiring the end of August!!!

Also, I doubt we'd be going to Busch Gardens so what do you suggest? Maybe a drive to VA Beach? Or just eat and relax. Walking around town......depends on the heat, I guess.

Be nice just to get away for a few days.

How crowded will Busch Gardens and the Water Park be the week of Aug 17? I know of some areas where school starts back about that time. Our district goes Sept 2nd this year since Labor Day is so late. Usually we start the last Wed of Aug for 3 days and then have Labor Day w/e off. Dumb, but that's how it is.

Could be hurricane season also. At least not on the beach , but could be rainy.

Resorts: Diamond Resorts "The Club", Marriott Fairway Villas, Turtle Cay, Grand Beach, Wyndham Bentley Brook
Crowds have not generally been a problem at BG this Summer. Numbers are down substantially from last year, except for the 4th where they apparently had a record year.

We stayed there in the spring time a few years back. Went to Williamsburg and the museums, golfed at a city course near Yorktown. Loved Yorktown and Jamestown an exploring the plantations along the river and took the ferry on another trip. We found so much to do in the general area (and did not go to Busch Gardens) that we did not make it down to Virginia Beach.
A few years later, we had an awful timeshare on Virginia Beach (for which RCI gave me a full refund and my week back). We doubled back through the back roads and found some nifty old places and the ferry and stopped in Wmsburg to shop. Enjoy your vacation!
