Ins. for car rental in Grand Cayman
OK, we're using Capital One Platinum Mastercard. It says we're covered for Collision (as long as we decline this with the rental agency). So, we need to add liability insurance I think. Is there anything else we should add?
Thanks for your help. Anne |

Ummm, you're not planning on running off the rim, are you?
If you have liability insurance on your own vehicle at home, that will cover short-term domestic rentals (typically 30 days or less), subject to your policy's deductables. Check with your agent or read your auto policy to be sure. Also, if you have collision or comprehensive, that will also cover a domestic rental vehicle, subject to deductables. Your insurance company will coordinate benefits with any primary (no deductable) insurance available.

Check for theft coverage. It's not something I thought about until someone brought it up on the Aruba BB. Supposedly some CC's coverage does not cover for theft of the car itself. We recently signed up for the Am Ex enhanced program (their basic does cover theft also) for our international car rentals which kicks in when the Am Ex card is used for the rental. Oops, I think DH used Am Ex for our upcoming trip to So Cal...will have to remember to give them another CC when we pick up the car. As our insurance coverage covers for domestic car rentals, we need to try to remember not to use our Am Ex card when renting domestically.
