Massanutten activities advice

We will be in Massanutten in a couple of weeks and want advice on activities. We were there about 4 yrs ago and definitely enjoyed the cooking demo, magic show and scuba class. They no longer have the candle making which we really liked.

There is a "Wednesday Night Show". Can anyone tell me if it's good? My kids are 11(girl) & 14(boy). Any opinions on what they should sign up for?

Hi, Cindy.

We were at Massanutten last year when my two were 15 (boy) and 12 (girl). They mostly just wanted to spend time at the waterpark, although we did do some mini-putt and summer tubing as well. We've done the go karting and horseback riding in previous years. We have never been to the Wednesday Night Show; you might want to call the concierge desk to find out. There are a couple of activities that my two would definitely have passed on, had we known: glycerin soap making and the bucket hat.

Hope that helps.

we were there over July 4 and did many of the activities and loved everything that we did.. we LOVED the illusionist.. I forget his name but he was fantastic. we will be talking about it for years to come. the comedian was great als. The murder mystery was good but a bit of a let down.. we tie dyed tshirts and that was fun.. the cooking class was great.. the wine tasting and craft fair was ok..not great but ok...for sure see the illusionist..

My favorite is the Jason Bishop show - the usual illusionist. I think I have seen his show at least a dozen times!! My husband keeps asking me when I will get tired of it - I just tell him when I figure out HOW he does it. My grandchildren and my daughter thought he was wonderful too, they have seen him 2-3 times each. Two other times there was a "substitute" illusionist who I didnt care for as much, but it was still a good show.

Comedy show I have seen 3 times I think, but it was 2 different comedians.

The jason bishop show was great for kids and adults. We also did the t-shirts. We went to the wine/craft fair. It is very small, but good for wine tasting. We had our fill! Better for the adults than the kids! The waterpark was the highlight for us. The mountain tubing was very buggy and we just couldn't stand being there. We were there in August.

Question

So we will be there the last full week of August. My DH & will have 4 kids, 2-15 yr old girls, 1-9 year old girl, and 1-12 year old boy. Is it worth the money to pay for the activity card??? For the activity card and then 3 day waterpark pass will cost me around $500 for them. This does not yet include my husbands or my water park passes yet?

we didn't think the activity card was worth it for us. we opted for the 3 day waterpark pass and just paid for the few activities we decided to do. we also put the kids in the day care 2 days. they loved it, but it was long. i believe the sessions were 6 hours during the day. I really didn't need the time, but they love to play with other children.

We were at Massanutten last week with a 15 year old and two 11 year old grandchildren. We went to their website massresort.com and found a listing of all the activities with prices. We let each girl pick what she wanted to do, added up the cost and decided to go without the card this time. They, and I, really did enjoy the water park and I am 67. Our girls discovered that they liked hanging out, playing cards and going to the pools and waterpark. When we would mention doing something they had said they wanted to do.....they usually said that they justed wanted to play cards and talk. What a surprise. We paid for three days at the water park and they only went two days. The price was about the same for two days and three days. We did go into Harrisonburg for the midnight opening of Harry Potter. Getting back at 3:30 am, the girls slept much of the next day. There is a new class involving microwave glass fusing. It was amazing to see what could be done.

Have fun.

Sandy

We were there a few summers ago. Waterpark is where the kids will want to be. Nice golf course if that is your thing. We took the day trip to Washington DC and it was great! We also went to Luray Caverns which was a really good time and only a short drive away. Putt putt, and a couple of nice pools with good diving boards. We were there a week and never had a problem finding something to do. It was a great week.
