I thought it would be helpful to know what resorts and what procedures seem to be problematic when depositing a non-SVN week with II.

You can vote either way - yes and no choices are listed.

Please do not vote, unless you have deposited a non-SVN week with II! :D

After you vote, please post the following info. - please be brief:

1) What you deposited

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

4) What problem you had depositing.

ADDED:

5) Approx. when did you deposit?

Thanks Kath - when you get a chance can you please post the details? (See example above.)

1) What you deposited

Each side of SDO two bed lock-off for weeks 12 and 13 - Deposit performed in July 2009

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

Weeks were reserved for me by the closing company during escrow. I called after title had transferred to verify the reservations were in my name (did not mention depositing).

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

Tried to do it online with II, but got error messages. Had to call Starwood and have them deposit the weeks.

4) What problem you had depositing.

II's online system would not accept my deposits online. When entering my reservation information, the system would tell me the dates I entered were not valid. I received messages to call Starwood for assistance (Starwood phone number was listed). Called Starwood. Agent insisted Starwood could deposit any week in the year since I bought a 1-52 floating unit. I politely told her that was bunk. She put me on hold for about ten minutes and called up II and deposited the weeks I requested. It ended up working, but I certainly got a scare.

It would be a good idea to state WHEN you last tried this. This process worked great for me 6-8 months ago. It hasn't worked in the last 2-3 months!

1) What you deposited

Deposited SDO EOY 1br and studio

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)
Made a reservation for myself at Starwood for both sides of the LO.

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

Then tried to deposit the same week in II using their on line process. Rejected and told to call Starwood to deposit. I called Starwood and got the usual "you can't specify the week you deposit" reply. Talked to super, also same story. Gave up. Still sitting in my account undeposited. This was about 6 weeks ago.

4) What problem you had depositing.

Yes and no resolution. One of these days when I have another 45 minutes to kill and patience to argue, I will call again to try to make this happen. UGH. FYI same issue with an SVR FIXED week about 6 months ago. Ended up selling the week. Too much PITA for me.

Katherine - are you saying that you could not deposit the actual deeded week of your fixed week with II?

1. deposit EOY SDO large bedroom
2. reserve room myself
3. deposit in II online without problem

Katherine - are you saying that you could not deposit the actual deeded week of your fixed week with II?

I could not deposit either. II would not let me deposit the deeded week even though I chose that week as the "check in" date. Said to call Starwood.

So I called and made a reservation for each side of my units and THEN tried to deposit with II. Same story -- says to call Starwood because I can't deposit on line. THEN I call Starwood and say I want to deposit my reserved week and they say no way, can't do that...

K

With the fixed week - what week did they end up depositing for you and what week do you own?

I think this is hugely important to the issue. Can you modify the list of questions to include when the deposit was attempted?

WILL DO! :hi:

Thanks! Very interesting so far!

1) What you deposited

Sheraton PGA Summer Float is what I own

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

I called Starwood and told them I wanted to deposit in II

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

I called Starwood and told them I wanted to deposit in II

4) What problem you had depositing.

I wanted to reserve Memorial Day week - thought it would be best of summer weeks. They said I couldn't choose. I was new and didn't fight it. They ended up depositing a March week which is platinum (I own gold season). Trade power was great, but not really fair.

5) Approximately when you deposited.

Last June (2008).

You said to be brief, but then you said to post details, and you know how wordy I can be. :D

Thanks! Very interesting so far!

I have had two issues
1) What you deposited SBP lockout, both sides, May of 2010 weeks

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?) Did not say anything to Starwood about depositing the two reservations

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?) Tried to enter the dates online, and it seemed to take, but it didn't

4) What problem you had depositing. I made two exchanges with the deposits a few days later, and then received a card in the mail that said my two weeks were not accepted. Had to call II and talked to someone there, who told me that Starwood always deposits weeks and we were not allowed to deposit our reserved weeks. So I called Starwood and talked to Jacqueline, who said the same thing, so I asked for a supervisor named Cory or Colby (couldn't understand what he said, even though I asked twice), and he told me he was very sorry, so he deposited two spring break 2010 weeks at Kierland Villas for me immediately, and those weeks were good enough to keep the exchanges I had made, when I called the II rep to make sure my exchanges weren't lost to me.

5) Approximately when you deposited. This was mid-May, and the weeks deposited were mid-may weeks, exactly one year out.

I did deposit my 2010 dedicated 2 bedroom SBP for 2009 last year, June, and had no problems. I don't remember how I deposited it, and I was sure I entered my reservation number somewhere, but I cannot remember, and others said that is not required. I think I may be confusing this deposit with another resort.

My second story:

Thanks! Very interesting so far!

Don't forget to post the details in this thread:

After you vote, please post the following info. - please be brief:

1) What you deposited SDO, two sides of a lockout, week 13, 2010, for both sides

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?) Contacted Starwood and asked if they would deposit the weeks I already had reserved by the reseller, and they said they would deposit weeks of their choosing, so I hung up.

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?) Deposited the weeks with a guide at the same time I added this one to my account. She didn't say there would be a problem.
4) What problem you had depositing. Two weeks later, I get a card saying my weeks were rejected by Starwood. Called II back and asked for a supervisor and she was able to deposit the weeks with no problems (yet). It has been about 3 weeks now, so I am just holding my breath.

5) Approximately when you deposited.
[/I]This was mid-June that I started the process.

Trouble with SVR Cascades Week:

1) What you deposited
Tried to deposit SVR Cascades New Years week 2008 which I had earlier reserved.

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

I called Starwood to make the reservation. I did not tell them I wanted to deposit in II.

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

I tried to deposit online, but it didn't work. I called Starwood and told them I wanted to deposit that week in II, but they wouldn't. Eventually, they deposited a Spring Break SVV week instead. See this earlier thread:

See above.

5) Approximately when you deposited.

No trouble with SVR Cascades week:

1. Deposited SVR Spring Break week 2010.

3. I tried to deposit online, but it didn't work. I called Starwood and told them I wanted to deposit that week in II, but they wouldn't. They deposited a Spring Break week instead.

4. See above.

At Glorian's request I added a YES vote to SVR, that she missed, but I am unable to add her name, so when you click on the votes, it will not show her name, but it will show an extra vote.

Yes, I had you in mind when I posted that! :hysterical:

1) What you deposited

2, SVR Fixed Weeks (total of 3 deposits so far)

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

Yes. In fact, the rep took a few extra minutes to confirm the status of my weeks and told me that since they are fixed it's easier to deposit as there's no choice for either of us. Once she noticed it was a fixed week, the call was complete very quickly. This experience was actually one of my easiest dealings with II.

-- To clarify, I called II, not Starwood. II was able to do this without my needing to call Starwood.

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

I called for the first deposit then deposited online ever since.

4) What problem you had depositing.None.
5) Approx. when did you deposit?

Oct 1, 2008, Oct 24, 2008, and March 5, 2009 (for on-going exchange which was filled the next day for WKORV)

1) What you deposited

I own a 2 bedroom Desert Oasis EOY odd purchased in 2006. I also own VCC annual. My deposits so far : SDI Prem 1 bed & small 1 bed both for week 14(4/7-4/14-2007) and again in 2009 Prem side for week 10 (3/7-3/14) small side week 11 (3/14-3/21)

Annual Villas of CC 9/22-9/29/07, 2/2-2/9/08, 3/21-3/28/09

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

Called Starwood and reserved with no mention of deposit.

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

Online deposit

4) What problem you had depositing.

None until VCC 2009 deposit in May 2008. Online deposit cancelled by II. Called Starwood and rep did the deposit of my reserved week. She could give no reason for the cancellation.

5) Approx. when did you deposit?

SDO 2007 weeks reserved in August 2006 and deposited later that week 2009 weeks reserved at 1 year out and deposited a few days later.

VCC reserved 1 year out and deposited within the next few days.

I plan to use my weeks from now on, seek private trades, or deposit with TPI or SFX. I have other timeshares that trade as well or better in II and I don't have to deal with Starwood.

1) What you deposited
A) week 51 2008 SVR
B) week 32 2008 SBP
C) week 26 2010 SVR
D) week 51 and 52 2009 SDO

2) What procedure you used to reserve (did you tell Starwood you were going to deposit the week?)

all reservations made online thru mystarcentral

3) What procedure you used to deposit (did you do it all online or call Starwood or II?)

called Owner Services for all except for SDO which I deposited online

4) What problem you had depositing.

a) had originally reserved week 51 at SVR, Owner Services did not want to deposit that week, half hour conversation that I did not want to fight over anymore and they ended up depositing a week 49 at SVV

b) I had reserved my deeded week, and when they tried to tell me they summer weeks are not normally deposited with II, I insisted this time that I was not part of SVN and that I had a right to deposit my deeded week.

c) I had reserved week 14 2010 at SVR, but when I tried to deposit online, it would not allow me to and directed me to call Owner Services. When I called them, they gave me the same old lines - I could not deposit the week I had reserved, yada yada yada, and I ended up with a week 21 at SVV. I couldn't complain about this deposit because I was able to exchange it for WKORVN next May. :cheer:

d) separated L/O and deposited online, however, reversed the check in dates and called II to correct. II guide initially said that I had to call Owner Services to deposit my weeks, but when I told her that I was not part of SVN, she corrected my deposit. Also, I asked why I could deposit my SDO weeks online and not my other weeks, she said that should not be a problem going forward. We will see the next time I have to do a deposit...

5) Approx. when did you deposit?
A) July of 2008
b) March 2009
c) June 2009
d) Mid July 2009

1) What you deposited

I've owned various resale weeks since about 2002 ... SVR, PGA and Broadway Plantation. Have made many deposits (15+).

Questions 2 - 5 (sorry, brevity isn't one of my strong points :) ):

In the early years, I always told Starwood I was going to deposit the week. The same reps who answered the phones could do the deposits while you were on the phone. They would tell you what was available from previously bulk-banked deposits and let you choose which weeks you wanted. I never had any problems.

Circa 2006 -- The phone reps could no longer make the deposits while you were on the phone -- they had to send the request to another department. That's when the problems started. I had sold my SVR weeks by that time. The seasons for PGA are pretty fair, so I always managed to get good weeks deposited. Later sold the PGA weeks as well.

Once the new procedure started, Broadway Plantation was the big problem. Anything inside late May - late August traded great ... anything outside traded terrible. In 2007, I got stuck with a Thanksgiving week (the rep probably thought he was doing me a favor ... after all, it's a holiday .... it's sad how clueless the Starwood reps are when it comes to II trading power).

In 2007, I tried a "request first" with a 2008 reserved week. After receiving the II postcard saying my deposit was rejected I called. Starwood told me "request first" was only available to SVN members!!!! Sent a "scathing email" and an exception was made! An exception -- right! I was "permitted" to deposit my reserved weeks (but never did settle the request first issue).

2008 -- Was completely prepared to "take them on" if I experienced problems when depositing. But, my online deposits of 2009 reserved weeks went through without a hitch.

2009 -- Have not yet tried to deposit any 2010 weeks -- will get around to it soon.
