Anybody have any insight as to how disruptive the construction of the Disney Resort in Ko Olina is to the Marriott villas or the JW Marriott at Ilihani? We're planning a trip but don't want to be in the middle of a huge construction zone. Thanks in advance...

Was at Ko Olina in June. Didn't even notice the construction. You will be just fine. Enjoy!

You will probably hear the construction if staying at the JW, but the hours of operation for construction are very reasonable.

Anyone took pictures of the Disney Vac Club area? I'm a Ko Olina owner and also have Disney Points. Looking forward to spending consecutive weeks at the 2 properties.

The Disney construction is far from Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club. If you have an ocean view villa, you will probably be able to see four tall cranes beyond the Centex Beach Villas at Ko Olina, but there is no disruption at Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club.

A bigger issue at Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club is that interior construction of the incomplete half of Hale Nai'a (building 3) is likely to resume some time in 2010. It could be disruptive if you have a room in the completed half of Hale Nai'a.

If you have an ocean view room at the JW Marriott Ihilani, you should also be fine. However, the Disney site is directly across the street from the JW Marriott Ihilani, so some non-ocean view rooms face directly toward the construction site.

We stayed at Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club the last two weeks of July. It's a great property. We enjoyed walking to the JW Marriott Ihilani and dining there.

I posted two articles with recent photos:

Wow! I so enjoyed looking over your site. You have done a tremendous job.

Thanks so much for sharing. I'm glad I asked!:D

Wow! what great photos! thanks so much for including the link!

No developer wants to link a name to a construction project anymore. Too many people start bugging them about wanting to buy when it isn't ready to be sold. Lots of red tape involved with the state's department of real estate. Construction delays happen, things change, economies affect plans, projects get sold etc. etc. Disney is very committed to this project, but won't be doing any advance sales for quite a while. Stay tuned for sure!

great photos

thanks for the great photos, werner. we really enjoyed the first set with captions, so this is a nice follow-up!!

This resort and Ko'Olina in general has several bashers on the mouseowners bulletin board. I don't really understand it since the most if not all of the bashers have never been there. People just want to be contrarians I guess. Personally, I live about 10 miles from Ko'Olina and I know Hawaii very well having travelled to all the islands. IMO Ko'Olina was the perfect place for Disney to build and I think it will probably be a fabulous resort. I've stayed at the Marriott ts there and it's a phenomenal property.
