The title says it all - I downloaded IE 8 and my computer is running sooooo slow it is driving me crazy!

How do I go back to IE 7? I have Windows XP Professional.

I am not quite ready to jump ship yet (IE8 installed about a week and a half ago), but my experiences are exactly the same. I'll be interested in seeing the responses.

I tried downloading IE8 onto my work computer. It didn't install itself properly and I lost internet access completely. It took a couple of hours on the phone with our IT support company to get IE8 off of my computer and reload IE7. They told me that they don't recommend IE8 because it's too unstable at this time. Since then I seem to be fine. BTW, now I have google chrome in case I lose IE so I can still get to the internet to fix it. :p

Okay...I am going in!
Thank you - it worked and I can already see that I am going so much faster....have a nice week end.:hi:

Thanks for that link. I was wondering the same thing yesterday. I'm not sure if I'll switch back or just use Firefox from now on, but it's good to have the option.

I can't stand IE and use Firefox all the time. However, some web sites require IE and won't work with FF.

Thanks again, I am back and functioning so much better....
The month with IE8 was terrible!

Ditto that! So many web sites would not work, it turned off Task Manager, Active X was a mess, etc.

Thanks too!
:hi:

The month with IE8 was terrible!

It took me only 48 hours to realize it was a mistake and back peddle. I could take only so many "problems" with sites that were never a problem B4. My office's IT person had the same experience.
