My husband will be playing at the National Jug Band Festival in Louisville Saturday 9/19. It sounds like it might be interesting. One of the bands is from Japan.

A quick Google search turned up all the details if you're from the area and interested. No charge for admission.

This sounds fun! There's never any jug-band action up here in northern NJ. :)

We did go see an all-accordion orchestra in the springtime, which was strangely cool.

Jug band is a bit of a misnomer for these guys, though they did finally aquire two jugs. I told DH the crowd will either love them (because they are different) or hate them because they're not traditional. Time will tell.

They are a bunch of guys all in other bands who weren't working enough to be happy (most have no REAL jobs), so they put this together about a year ago. They have developed quite a following, because they work cheap and are pretty amusing.

The are very very silly, with kazoos and yodeling thrown into the mix. My 11yo calls it "funny music".

They do a lot of old stuff. A Beatles tune, John Prine, Muddy Waters, assorted old blues artists, some very old hard country. Strange mix. For a taste of it, you can go to: www.myspace.com/yunsband . Yuns is probably something like "youse guys" to our northern friends.

If you want to check out his more serious band, very bluesy, country swing, also hard to define: www.lonesomecoyotes.com .
