Typically something like this is very difficult to sell and they usually have very little resale value. I would search completed EBAY auctions to see if any have sold or have been listed recently.

I know the drill, I am a new user and have no post count, so of course everyone thinks I am shilling for Global Discovery, I will explain this: I have never used these forums before and the only reason I am here was because I am looking to sell my timeshare (vacation club) that I have through Global Discovery Vacations. As a result of that, I went looking for help as I have never sold a timeshare and have no idea where to go or what to do. This led me here, where I find a lot of threads dedicated to how Global Discovery is a scam and how everyone posting about is just shilling. From the mouth of babes.
Its likely worth 1% of what you paid for it or what you're selling it for, whichever is less.
I'm confused as to what you are getting at by quoting my post in another thread. Care to clarify? I can only assume you are trying to say that the company I own has a bad rep on this site and therefore is not worth much? That would be a viable argument if the reputation it has was actually a reality rather then due to ignorance. (I will apologize in advance if this is not your intentional meaning, and hope to get clarification soon)
All that aside, lets say it is a reputable company I own (Imo it is, but meh). I simply want to know a ballpark for what I am looking at getting out of it. If it is next to nothing due the type of ownership then so be it, but I would like that on a fact's basis and not an 'opinion' basis.
Oh, and to the mods: I apologize if it appears I am advertising, I thought this was the proper forum to discuss the buying/selling of my timeshare....(not actually listing it for sale, as I am not ready to do that yet and have not listed any information to contact me or a sale price)....the sub-header of this forum says: "Discuss all aspects of buying, selling and renting timeshares here. Advertisements are not permitted (see Classified Ads link at top of page)." so I thought it was the place to go. Do you have a definition of 'Advertisement' somewhere, because my definition must be wrong. I thought people may think I was just drumming up business for a particular company so I intentionally left out the name to avoid this very confusion....
Am I required to go to the marketplace for any questions regarding a timeshare purchase/Sale? I thought the marketplace was for actually selling your timeshare not discussing it. I checked out the marketplace and it isn't a forum so therefore I cannot discuss my timeshare there.
You are permitted ask general questions, but between your 3 posts, you provided very specific and detailed info. about the property you have for sale - it may not have been your intention, but that violates our strict no-advertising policy. If you would like to ask more general questions, without listing all the details of your property, you are welcome to do that.
You have already received some good advice - vacation clubs have no underlying deeded ownership, and they have virtually no resale value. In this economy, you will be lucky to give it away. If you are happy with it, you will get more value out of keeping it and using it.

Question: Do you even know if your "membership" is transferrable? Many are not.
The best way to determine if something has value is to market it, like on e-bay and see if anyone bids. According to Jay Leno, someone will buy a french-fry.
The Membership is transferable, I can even rent out my weeks if I so choose. I guess I'll hit up ebay and see if I can figure out some type of value. However, from what I am getting here, I'll likely be keeping it.

SOME (...albeit, not many) "vacation club" RTU's do indeed have some intrinsic value which makes them somewhat "marketable" (in a decent economy, anyhow). I had one such membership in a Nevada based vacation club a few years back with choice of usage locations in Lake Tahoe, Dominican Republic, Florida and few other places. I sold it for less than I had paid (purchased resale, of course), but I had no trouble at all selling it once I'd gotten (and enjoyed) my use of it for several years.
If you advertise it for sale, just be very clear (and very honest) about the costs, transfer procedures, available locations, reservation procedures, etc. With luck, those specific details might just attract someone interested in what you have. Good luck.
Thank you for the response Theo. I appreciate the insight in the matter and I will be sure to compile as much information as possible about the package before listing it.
