My family is flying into DC on 4/01/10 and flying out of DC late on the 4/11/10...

Our original thought was to stay in DC for a few days before heading down to Williamsburgh, VA (trade via II) and stay there from the 4th - 11th. But now I am finding a Wyndam timeshare in DC, but it is in RCI and not II.

Is there a way to trade our *wood unit for the RCI Wyndam unit, and if so, any guesses on the trading values?

You could advertise here on Tug for a trade, or Redweek. If you deposit your week on redweek, you will be given "points" that can be used within a 2 year period. You might see something worth exchanging into. I would even post on a Wyndam Board to find a trade.

Not sure where you are staying, but I would recommend staying at National Harbor, just outside of DC, but easy access to DC.

Also, depending on your week, you might be better off renting your Starwood week, then rent a Wyndam week from either Tug or Redweek.

I would try to rent something from a Wyndham owner. Your best bet would be National Harbor, which is opening early 2010.

Old Town Alexandria is booked solid, as usual in early April. If you wanted to stay there you'd probably have to find a owner with an existing reservation.

Just checked the Wyndham Resort Web reservation system. Washington DC/Alexandria Old Town resort is totally booked for 4/1/10-4/4/10.

The new resort at Fairfield Harbour is wide open. They have 1 and 2 bedroom untis ranging from 25,000 pts to 70,000 pts. Pts are Wyndham points.

Remember that the time you want a hotel in the DC area is Cherry Blossom time and 1 Apr is prime time. Every hotel is filled then.

You beat me to the website info!

Thanks for the advise... who knows what we will end up doing... I keep learning more and more each day...

I love the planning part, but it will be a wonderful thing when our weeks aren't tied to our kids school schedules...

But gotta love the chance to see the cherry blossoms

Thanks again for giving me more "work" :)
