Anyone Heard of CVS, a Financing Company in Florida?

I was contacted today by a company called CVS who claims to be a financing company with several branches in Florida. I've been scammed once before, so am really leary of anyone now, but really want to sell timeshare. Has anyone heard of this company??

It's a scam. Legitimate companies do not contact timeshare owners with offers to rent or sell your timeshare.

They will either charge you an upfront fee to "market" your timeshare which will consist of a generic listing on a website with 100s of similar listings or they will tell you they have a buyer but need you to pay them $$$ for some reason. Once they have your money you will never hear from them again.

Here are some warnings signs with these kinds of companies:

1) Do they say that they already have a renter/buyer for your timeshare? (or an established market like people attending conventions.)
2) Are they offering to rent/sell it for far more than the market value?
3) Do they want you to pay a large up front fee?
4) Are they refusing to send you a contract until you pay their fee?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then this is the usual scenario:

Once you pay the fee and receive the contract, you discover that the company has only promised to advertise your resort, not to rent/sell it, and they don't mention having a renter/buyer in the contract.

Then, you won't hear anything from them for a long time, and when you contact them, they will tell you that the renter/buyer backed out, but they will advertise your timeshare on their over-priced website.

Finally, when you try to get your money back, they will point out that you signed a contract, and it's only for advertising. When you try to challenge it with your credit card company, they will tell you the same thing.

Please see the articles at the top of the Buying, Selling, Renting page entitled "How to Sell Your Timeshare." - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44

Good luck! :hi:

When you see CVS or Coke, or any well known name, Resales look out!

Just the fact that they are using a well known name - CVS - in an unrelated operation (timeshare advertising, not selling) is another way you can tell they are a rip off operation. They are hoping you'll associate the CVS brand with them and they will gain an undeserved legitimacy. Run away - they are another group that will take your money & do nothing.

That's what I figured. Can't find any info on internet about them. Claimed they had a buyer, wanted me to pay title search money that supposedly would be paid back at closing. Fortunately, told them I would call back tomorrow after doing some checking, and gave them no financial info. Been burned already - not going to let it happen again. Thank You.

Read previous thread info provided. Sounds very similar. Offered me $18,950 for bi-annual at Vacation Village Parkway. Title search fee upfront of $1,287 - when I said absolutely not, he said could get buyer to pay more and I would only have to pay $599, and that would be added on to final sales check. Did say they use 3rd party escrow company for holding money. Claimed they used currier service for final payment - choice of wire transfer, certified cashier check, etc. Sales guy was Gregory McDennis - gave cell phone number only - and said office was in West Palm Beach. So yes, tell everyone to run away fast.

There is a real "CVS" which is a major network of pharmacies.
As another poster said, these scam-artists cynically use names that mimic those of actual companies in the hope that their marks will think that they are either that company or affiliated somehow. Unfortunately, too many folks throw their money down this rat-hole.

New News About C.V.S.

Creative Vacations Solutions - F rating with Florida BBB. They keep trying. Now have told me that they are in process of merging with Innovative Resorts International, Inc., out of Jerico, NY. They claim this company has A+ rating with BBB. I wasn't able to find anything about them on BBB - but found one complaint on Google. Still asking for upfront money. They claim I, as seller, would have all control and couldn't possibly lose my money because they have "one of the loosest refund policies" !!! Gosh, it sounds soooooo good - TOO BAD!!! I told them I wouldn't commit to anything - had to look up info on Innovative Resorts International, Inc. first. The guy sure is persistant - won't take NO for an answer. Curious tho - anyone heard of IRI, Inc. ?

A more interesting question would be... Why are you still playing with these guys?
My suggestion: Invest in Caller ID and find it in yourself not to answer calls from these cretins.

Actually have caller ID - the last call came in as "INCOMING" with no number. If I have another conversation, it will be more like the suggestions - sell it, then take monies out at the end. As most tuggers have said, that will get rid of them. I did want to warn others about this new name, Innovative Resorts International, Inc. incase it, infact, is an old scammer with a new name. :)
