Has anybody heard of this one before?? I get a call yesterday and they leave me a message saying it is RCI Management calling and asked me call back a 877 number. So I call back thinking I am talking to RCI. And they mislead me to believe I am. They tell me they called me as a courtesy to remind me that I have unused points and whether I have any vacation plans this year to use these points. They then tell me that if I am not going to use these they can rent it out through a rental program. All this time I am thinking I am talking to RCI. This lady tells me I can get market value for my points if I rent them and asks if I would be interested. So I say sure why not? Then she tells me somebody from that department will call me.

5 mins later a guy calls me and gives me the usual scam BS about how I can get $2700 rental for my week and RING!! the alarm goes off in my head. So I ask him are you calling on behalf of RCI and he tells me he is calling from RCI Management Company and they handle the rental program. He never says he is not calling from RCI. He tells me how he has this family from MA who are lined up to rent my week blah blah. And then he tells me I have to pay a "one-time" fee of $1495 but because I am such a good citizen who is uptodate on my maint fees I am getting a $500 break. So for only $995 they are going to rent my week for a lifetime. I never have to pay them a dime again.

So I start asking him why this stupid family from MA is paying $2700 for my week in Cancun at an AI resort when they can get in there for $85 a person per night from Expedia, Orbitz anywhere else which pays for the room and the AI ? So he feeds me some more BS. And then he tells they guarantee the rental and if they can't rent in 6 months I can ask for my money back. He told me he has been doing this for 10 years and in all that time he has never had to give anybody their money back because they couldn't rent their unit. So I told him alright I will do some research on you guys and you call me tomorrow.

I doubt he will call me back but if he does I will give him an offer. He can rent my unit for $2700 and instead of me paying him $995 he can send me a check for $995 and keep the rest :D

Wonder how many people get fooled by this. I have had calls from these guys before but I knew it was a scam company right away because they told me some name. But these guys tell you they are calling on behalf of RCI Management or they say they are RCI Management which had me fooled for a while and I almost gave them my RCI account number. Wonder how this is legal :ponder:

This is the number to the con artists. They now call themselves RCI Management Company. And they pretend they are calling from RCI when they call you. So beware!!!

That is interesting. I owned at a timeshare resort that was managed by RCI Management "RCIM" for several years. They were very good. I suspect this is not the same RCIM that managed our resort.

Likely not. These guys added the "Company" at the end. But nice ploy though. I am betting these are the same guys operating under the names of GMAC and TimesharesOnly etc. Same scheme to scam unsuspecting TS owners. I am sure given the down economy, business must be really good for these guys. Lots of people are probably looking to dump their TS before the start of the new year to avoid paying maintenance fee in 2010 and these guys are preying on them. $995 upfront !! Then you will never hear from them again.
