Would some one mind explaining how the actual deeded week comes into play regarding making resv and also when trading?

IE: What are the advantages of purchasing a really good deeded week resale....

THANKS!!

Scott

Some deeded weeks are actually fixed weeks for that specific week and the owner only can reserve that week.

Some deeded weeks are fixed in a season and the owner can reserve any week in the season, as available from 8 - 12 mos. out.

Some deeded weeks just have a week on the deed for recording purposes, and actually float 1-52 or 1-50 and the owner can reserve any week, as available.

Every resort is different - see the Staroptions chart posted in SW Owner Services at the top of the board for the seasons.

Thanks! I guess I need to me more specific...If I bought a mandatory SVV resale that was Floating Plat, would I have any advantages if it was deeded week 51 as well...or wouldn't matter?

THANKS AGAIN!!

It only matters if it is deeded FIXED WK 51, or if it was sold as an event week which may allow you to book another event week (generally wks 7, 51, and 52). It depends on the resort, and I don't think that is the case with SVV (a mandatory resort). I own a deeded [developer] Floating Wk 51 at SVV-Bella, and it gives me nothing special.

I agree with everything stated above, but there are a few strange twists out there. For example:

At Broadway Plantation, an owner can reserve his/her deeded week 24 months in advance. Not a big deal, really, but it does allow the owner of a "good" week (e.g., 4th of July) to place the reservation early and not have to remember to call at 9 AM exactly 12 months in advance.

Owners in the original Lakes Phase of Vistana Resort have the ability to convert their deeded float week to a fixed (same) week. There may have been a time constraint on this one ... I just know it was an option when I owned there many years ago. If the new deposit rules hold, this could be a good option for some.
