I have stayed at a mayan palace twice in the past couple of years. once on my own rci account. then again through a sfx exchange. I was wondering if there is a chance that there would be a problem if I had a friend of mine who also owns timeshare that had a week exchange that they couldn't use and wanted to give me for an exchange at mayan palace. would they not allow me based on the one in five rule based on me already staying on my own rci account. the exchange they would give me would be using their own rci account.

Gosh - I don't know. Technically, it would be in your friend's name on record with RCI, so it should be OK. I recently did basically the same thing with two sets of friends this year, and even though we had guest certificates, whenever there was a communication from RCI about these reservations, I got the email. One was using an exchange and the other was using an Extra Vacation. The exchange was to a Mayan Palace, and I got a confirmation before they left about transportation to the resort even though the Guest Certificate was in their name.

When the Extra Vacation one needed to be cancelled, the friend did that since her credit card was on file and I got the email that it was cancelled. I had previously recieved emails about the dress code for the all-inclusive restaurants at this resort.

Several years ago RCI told me rule is enforced by RCI account # not by who stays in unit.

Another example that I just verified with RCI is if you stayed at a Mayan resort using your weeks account you could stay there again using a points account. So it should be fine if you stay using a guest certificate from your friends account but to be safe I would double check with RCI so that you don't have a problem at check in.:cheer: :hi:
