Almost a year ago I put an ongoing search into RCI and got nothing. Since I put this search on myself using their online system I'm not sure of how to make the change I want to make. There is another resort I want and can see that it is available on line. What are the steps I need to take to make this change on line? Do I release this search and wait for the system to put my search week back in? Or do I just go to "take a peek" and change the resort? When I originally put the search on they charged my account $164.00. Will that same amount be applied to the new resort or do I have to wait for a refund to my credit card? So many questions but I never cancelled a search before that I placed on line myself and I'm not sure what to do. I'm probably makeing it more complicated than it really is but I do not want to screw this up. Thanks for any help

just use "sneek a peak" to see if it will get the unit you saw with another week. if its there, just confirm it.......you will just no longer have an ongoing search.

Thanks very much. That is what I thought but need to be sure. What would I do without you guys??????;)

I did this very thing just a few weeks ago. After getting denied the exchange many many times online I finally tried canceling the ongoing search first, then exchanging for the new desired week... and that worked.

This was despite having clicked the "I know I'm canceling the ongoing search" box twice per time I tried to do the exchange. Didn't want to believe me I guess; I am sure it's just another programming glitch. It killed me to cancel the ongoing search as if I hadn't been able to really get the new exchange I'd been very upset. But as I said, canceling the ongoing search first, then doing the exchange did work.

Good Luck. Post back what you really had to do to get the new exchange... as you may have to do something else!

You shouldn't ever have to cancel your original search to "take a peek." You should be able to take hundreds of peeks using different parameters, and if you don't see something else you want, you just exit the site and your original search keeps going automatically. No having to guess, and no charge. At least that's my recent experience.

In the days of yore, you could change your ongoing search parameters yourself, as often as you liked, if you didn't see something you want by "taking a peek." I believe now, you can't do this online. Instead you have to cancel the original search, get a refund, and pay for a new one. That's a downgrade of functionality, in my opinion.
