It looks like I have sold my Mayan Palace and now I am wondering which closing company to use.....any suggestions. It should be simple with the exception that my late husband's name is on the contract but I have all the paperwork as executor of the estate. So, please tell me your experiences with Good Closing companies...especially if you have found one for a Mexican timeshare.

Just so you know, traditionally if the buyer is paying for closing, they get to pick the company. Your buyer may not know this, or may not care.

I am splitting the cost with them...they told me to find the company.....and I sold it for a very good price.

Necessary to use Closing Company?

Is it really necessary to use a closing company for a timeshare that is a "right to use" like the Mayan Palace? Since there is no title, it is usually just a change of ownership notification through the resort.
We have bought 6 right to use timeshares over the years (and sold a couple) only using a closing company once. The one time we used the closing company was because the seller demanded it. It was the longest messed up process and the only time we ever had a problem.
Unless you are determined to pay a closing company $300-400 for something you can usually do better on your own, check with the Mayan Palace for transfer of ownership procedures.

Does that mean you won't be joining the ladies in NV in Feb?

i concur with California-Bighorn. I bought a Grand Mayan from an individual a couple of years ago. Amazingly simple and no cost. We just agreed on who paid what, called the GM, they sent the transfer paperwork - done.

Hopefully this can work.
