Hi, I joined TUG to place an ad for my father's Reno TS. We placed an add last weekend. I thought I saw it briefly (last night), but now it's gone. What happened?

You can click on Marketplace, and then on the link that says "Edit your Existing Ad," to go to your Ad.

you can always view the current status of any of your ads by logging back into the marketplace http://ads.tug2.net

and clicking the "edit your existing ads" link near the top of the page.

this will display every ad you have ever posted (that you havent specifically chosen to delete) and its current status on the far right.

note I did attempt to look up an ad for you, but there are no TUG memberships under the email used to register this name on the forums.

Brian, under Edit ads, there's nothing listed. Might it still be pending or did I fill something out incorrectly?

the status would show as pending, if there is nothing there then there either was no ad ever placed (again, I cannot verify without membership info)...or the ad was deleted.

also make sure you are looking in the correct section (classifieds vs wish ads)

There is one Ad for the resort your dad owns, but I don't think it's yours - maybe that's what you saw?

Ok,

I looked up your username which is the same, and found your ad.

It is listed as "usage date passed" which means the interval you were trying to list is now in the past. Since we are in week 50/51...items listed for sale or for rent that are before this are removed from the system.

Every owner who has an ad that falls into this criteria is sent an email the week prior to their ad being removed from the site asking them to edit the usage date for the next year to allow the ad to continue.

With no further action by the poster, the ad is removed from the site to avoid stale listings cluttering the search results.

if you go in and edit your ad now to reflect next years interval, you can resubmit the ad.

Sorry, I did look at Wish List first. I do see it now and it said usage date past. Can I just change it to next year?

yep, change the usage date and resubmit it and itll go back up.

Ok, thanks. Any suggestions for improving the ad?

How does one get in the bargin basement area? What's the difference between for sale and bargain basement?

id list it properly, in your ad you show as a fixed week, but in your description you list it as a floating week?

The bargain basement section is automatically populated with ads priced below $500

Ok, I'll change that. I wasn't sure if it was saying it was a fixed ad or a fixed week in the ad. Guessed wrong. Thanks for the help.

Brian, I have another question! Why renew a ad if it isn't going back to first page. I renewed a rental ad thinking it would start on first page as of the new date but it stayed on page three #218 ad:ponder:

If this is the case then old ad should just delete and start a new ad I'm guessing!

can if you like, the renewal option is merely to make it easier for people to repost an ad vs doing the whole thing over.
