We went to a timeshare tour today. (Don't worry, we didn't buy.) The incentives were a $25 VISA gift card, $25 gift cert. to the resort's restaurant, and one week accommodations at one of many fabulous destinations :whoopie: (oh, with lots of blackout dates). (And the accommodations aren't really free. There's a $100 "processing fee". :annoyed: )
Ocean Key is owned by VSA Resorts. They own Ocean Key, Ocean Sands & The Atrium, all on Virginia Beach. Their best offer was $10k for a 1br every year (but with eoy maint fee) at Ocean Sands. (Yes, we toured Ocean Key, but they offered us a unit at Ocean Sands.) Maint fee was $485, so that turns into $242 each year. The sales manager said they have a lot of inventory and the HOA approved doing the every year usage with eoy maint fee to get more people in.
Units seemed small. 2br lock-offs were symmetrical - full kitchen in both. They are across the street from the beach, but still have a very nice beach view. They were renovating one floor and the sales person said they refurb. the rooms every five years.
Ocean Key is a week and points resort with RCI. I believe they are an II resort, too, but we didn't go into too much detail there.
They are part of another exchange group I had not heard of before, Trading Places International - TPI. I see they have a presence here, though, so that's just me not paying attention. I'm not sure if all the resort agreements are the same so I'll list what Ocean Key gets you with TPI.
The sales pitch wasn't a hard sell, a fairly standard script.
That's about all I can remember. If anyone care's feel free to ask questions.

- $0 trade with 32 resorts in US, a few Mexico and Carribbean.
- Trades into these 32 resorts are "color blind".
- Deposit & let them rent the unit for you will cover mf up to $500. (Which seems like a good deal.)
- $119 xfer fee into RCI - anywhere, no different cost for US or international. (If this is true, I don't understand why anyone would belong to both RCI and TPI. TPI costs less and gets you cheaper exchange fee. There must be a catch.)
- Dues were $35/yr.
