Looking to take the family to Williamsburg over spring break in April. Have two options Wyndham Kingsgate and The Historic Powhatan Resort. Have 3 kids - 9,9, and 7.

Is either one preferable to the other? I saw some mixed reviews on unit quality at both but both seem to be upgrading/renovating in the last year or two.

Any input would be helpful.

Kingsgate is closer in town. I haven't stayed there for several years so can't comment on unit conditions. Powhaten has great grounds, but everytime I've been there (9 or 10 different units), we have gotten a terrible unit. Last stay was over Thanksgiving and I would rate our unit as one of the worst I've ever stayed at. If you are lucky, and I don't know how you will know, to get a renovated unit then it is fine.

I'm sure others will chime in with their comments.

If you are in Club or the US Collection, see if you can reserve the Deluxe units at Powhatan. They're upgraded and only a couple of years old, so there is no need to worry about the condition of the unit.

Kingsgate has been completely refurbished, just two years ago. I would go with Kingsgate.

Kingsgate has FREE miniture golf and a FREE Video arcade and indoor pool and tennis courts. My 3 nephews think it is the greatest Wyndham place due to kid friendly toys.
