I agree with Jim. I would add Bonefish Grill to the restaurant list. Even though it is a chain, this location has great seafood and service. We often get carryout and eat on our balcony with a good bottle of wine. Speaking of wine, Total Wine and Costco have great selection and prices.

Since the Gulfstream is at its closest point along the US coast, deep sea fishing can also be a great activity. The water in the area is usually clear enough for snorkeling.

below are some recommendations we have recieved from the staff of the Oceana Palms up the road. We'll be staying there last two weeks of Aug.

Personally we like the sailfish marina especially in the evening. There are lighted doscks for fish watching. Johnny long boats is just around the corner for drinks and food. both these are walking distance from Ocean Pointe.

have fun

Restaurant & Area Recommendations:
Noche—This restaurant is located on PGA Boulevard and offers a Latin-Asian Fusion Menu. Wednesday & Thursday nights they clear the dance floor and offer live Motown Music. And they offer an amazing special daily: Between 5pm-7pm they offer 50% off of the menu, and that includes drinks as well! Reservations are recommended…please let me know when you’d like to dine at Noche!

Cool’a Fish Bar—This is hands down my absolute favorite! A tiki-style atmosphere on PGA Boulevard in Legacy Place, Cool’a offers everything from marinated filet steak tips to an Oriental glaze Chilean Sea Bass (my favorite!). Don’t forget to try the signature side “Cool’a Potato”…trust me, you’ll thank me! And between 5pm-7pm they offer 20% off of their menu. Reservations are not accepted but they do have a nice bar area if there is a wait.

Guanabanas—Located in Jupiter, this restaurant is a beautiful place to enjoy lunch or dinner. They just spend close to $1million just on landscaping, and when you’re sitting at one of their waterfront tables you feel like you are dining in the Caribbean. They offer an array of different foods, specializing in seafood of course, and have their own smoke house for you BBQ lovers! Complimentary Valet Parking is available…please stop by the Concierge Desk when you check in to get directions, because this place is not easy to find! Live entertainment is available on weekends, reservations are not accepted. **Note: if you feel like going somewhere after dinner, Square Grouper Tiki Bar is located right across the street—this is where Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson shot their video for “5 o’clock Somewhere”!!

City Cellar Wine Bar—Located in CityPlace in Downtown West Palm Beach, this restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating and a nice atmosphere. They have something for everyone and an outstanding wine list. My favorite dish: the Crabmeat Crusted Chilean Sea Bass with citrus butter. **Note: Plan on heading to City Cellar on a Friday or Saturday night. There is live entertainment at CityPlace and if you dine outside at City Cellar you’ll hear the music from your table. Then enjoy a comedy show at the Improve or have a drink at Blue Martini or Opa. There are plenty of places to choose from in CityPlace!

Rocco’s Tacos—Located on Historic Clematis Street, this restaurant also offers tacos, burritos, fajitas, and other delicious Mexican food items, including homemade table-side guacamole. My favorite dish is the blackened Mahi-Mahi soft tacos and the Mexican Street Corn (I know, it doesn’t sound appealing but it is really, really good!). **Note: Enjoy dinner at Rocco’s on a Thursday night (see below)

Charlie’s Crab- Noted for its fresh seafood entrees, Charley’s Crab offers a taste of the areas most popular fish and shellfish. It is the only Oceanfront Restaurant on Palm Beach Island and it overlooks nothing but the Atlantic Ocean. Its dishes are original, like the Lobster Grilled Cheese sandwich at lunch and the Panko Encrusted Scrod dinner. Its décor is comfortable, seating guests in several small rooms. The lounge area is graced by a panoramic view of the ocean. Its Sunday brunch is particularly popular, consistently ranking as the top choice in Palm Beach! This is truly the ultimate dining experience!

Thursday Night is Clematis by Night (www.clematisbynight.net) which is a free festival on Clematis Street where the street is closed down and there is live entertainment outside of the Library. Local artists set up tents with some of the artwork and popular restaurants set up tents as well. Beer trucks line the stage and it is a popular event that lasts until about 9:00pm. There is a complimentary trolley that goes from Clematis Street to CityPlace so that you can enjoy a night on the town at either popular hotspot!

LOVE IT!!!! Going there on the 15th of this month - the above is what I plan to do! :D

However, I will add - sit on the balcony and look at the ocean :D

I would also add Okeechobee Steakhouse to the list of restaurants. Great food and cocktails!

Walk over to Sailfish Marina and eat at the Restaurant there. Also take a West Pam boat tour at the Marina, they have a "now and then" tour which shows celebrity homes.

Walk on the beach up to the Singer Island Marriott next to Oceana Palms. Right outside the hotel there is a coral reef where you can snorkel and see lots of fish.

In February my daughter and I went to the spa at the Resort on Singer Island. Charges could be added to your room charges for Ocean Pointe. We made it a lengthy experience by first eating lunch outside on their patio, spending time in the relaxation room, using the warm tables in the steam room area and enjoying the hot tub. If you go, give yourself lots of time to enjoy all of the Spa.

Clematis St is lots of fun, try out Grease burger bar...huge burgers and great cheese fries.

Lunch at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. It's a ride back in time to the elegance of days gone by. Good food, exceptional ocean views, great service and ornate architecture in one stop. However, it's a little pricey but worth it if you haven't been there. After lunch you can tour a mansion in the same area. Makes for a nice day.

There are a lot of restaurants and stores on PGA Blvd. It's north of OP and probably about 10 minutes from the property. There was also a decent restaurant in the harbor which is about 5 blocks away. All in all, plenty to do there and enjoy. We're going back for Thanksgiving week.

I agree with the above posts the Sailfish Marina and their boat tours are outstanding.

Hopefully, when we cruise February 2011 and we stay at Ocean Pointe, we will tour Ocean Palms and walk on the beach.

Also, the downtown area is must to do.

Enjoy your cruise and the resort.
