We are taking our first trip to Hawaii late January and early February of 2011. I currently have booked a studio at the lagoon tower for Fr-Su then have a 1br+ oceanview Mo-Th. We did an exhange on Maui the previous week and figured we would end up our trip at the HHV, and are stoked about our upcoming trip.
The online reservation said that there is no balcony in the studio, which is fine for our first 3 night there when we will be likely out and about - but I also read somewhere there may not be a window? Can somebody en"ligth"en me about the studio setup at the Lagoon tower?

There is no balcony. There are two windows, but they are not floor to ceiling windows and although they do open up they do not open up all the way open. They open to the side and only open so far.

They are ok for a few days, but you have to love a lanai in hawaii.

GTLINZ,

Enjoy your trip! Where on Maui are you staying??

Phyllis, thanks for the HHV Studio pictures, it really helps to get a feel for the unit (and definitely suggests a Kalia Studio is preferable to a Lagoon Studio)....

Best to all,

Greg

We traded thru SFX and got into the Kaanapali Beach club. We asked around and the general consensus was if you could only go to one island, go there !

And THANKS FOR THE PICS Phyllis !

Have a great time at KBC, I've heard great things about it (it's got some great pics right now on the Hawaii board) and Maui is fantastic.

Enjoy it!

Well, Kalia studios are darn hard to get. I think I read about this and remember there may only be 2 studio units in Kalia? I have been watching to switch since the reservation but to no avail...

We were happy to get the weekend studio Fr-Su and save a pile of points! We are oceanfront in a 1br+ the rest of the week...

Enjoy your trip!!

Greg

Here's my comparison of the studios in Lagoon and Kalia:
http://tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110590

Yes, Kalia studios are much harder to get, at least partially because there are fewer of them. I got one for 15 nights last Sept-Oct at the nine-month mark by booking three nights and adding to those every couple of nights. I also lucked into one last year for four or five nights much closer to the stay.
