We've been to Hilton Head many times, but never to the above resort. Does the experience at MLE compare at all to Hilton Head? I know it is not Ocean front, etc. but I had read somewhere that there are bike paths, and the area is very kid-friendly. I am getting "antsy" about my on-going request to HHI, and am not sure if I will get it or not, so am exploring other driveable locales. Whatcha think TUGgers? Thanks a bunch!

Hilton Head is kid friendly. There are lots of bike paths. Beaches are very nice. Both adult-oriented and family-oriented restaurants.

Having said that, I have never heard of "Marriott Legends End"

I'd like to know about Legends Edge, too. From what I have gathered about that property it is more than just a mile or two from the beach, it is more like a 20 minute car ride -- which has kept me from booking there.

Legends End

Would this be the same Marriott Legends Edge in Panama City Beach, Florida?

Sorry, I misread your post. LE is a nice resort on the BackBay area of PCB. It is a 10 or so minute drive to the beach. My wife and I enjoy staying here, as it is quiet, but close enough. There is a nice pool area and you have use of the Marriott's hotel facilities next door. If your children are a little older they might find it a little too quiet. I believe there was some bike paths.

I would think the beach experience from MLE to a HHI resort would be completely different. HHI is very wooded with mature growth. MLE is the opposite. An open resort on a golf course. At MLE you have to drive to the beach or there is also a boat shuttle that goes over to the state park. You really can't compare the two. MLE was a disappointment for Marriott, they had plans for more TS units, but TS sales were slow. They then converted two buildings to Grande Residence full ownership condos.

dioxide45. Can you give more details on the boat shuttle? Is it free? How often does the shuttle run? And, how long is the ride?

A boat shuttle to the beach sounds like a neat way to get there.

Last year we were at Legend's Edge for spring break. Had four teens along; used the beach at the state park. We liked it so much that I am sure we will exchange in again. We have vacationed along this part of the gulf coast numerous times over the past 20 years, it has some of the most beautiful sand beaches.

As to the shuttle; it could only be used by the Marriott hotel guests, not the timeshare guests. It would be worthwhile to call the resort to confirm if this is still the case. We were able to use all the other hotel amenities/pools, though.

If you have a chance, book a trip over to Shell Island, you will love it.

We only went for two nights at the hotel a few years ago. We did take a tour at MLE though. I don't have a lot of details but did read on that days activity sheet that there was a boat shuttle. I think it may have only been one day a week though. Sorry I don't have any more details.

Thanks you guys. Sometime in the near future, I will call the resort and ask about the boat shuttle. I thought about that right after I posted my questions. So nice to get an answer from you guys, though.

I think I would really like the Panhandle. If only Marriott could have built on the beach, or across the street from the beach or anywhere that wasn't 20 minutes from the beach. Oh well.

I think Legends Edge is one of the easier Marriott beach resorts to trade into over the summer. Last November or December there was a really nice bulk deposit with something like 30 summer weeks, even a couple weeks over the 4th of July.
