Please help us get to Salt Lake City!

We need to fly from New York (or Hartford, if cheaper) to Salt Lake City for a weekend in early March. Can anyone tell me what the best airline would be for this. We really need to take price into account, but at the same time, can't spend hours and hours traveling. I haven't been able to find a reasonably priced non-stop.

Thanks for any help!!

Sharon

I just did a quick Orbitz search using the "nearby airport" functions and a Fri-Mon weekend in March. Cheapest non-stop was Delta from Hartford at $300, LGA $329. One stop on NW from LGA is $234 with good connections.

You might try Jet blue or southwest, too. I know they don't show up in Orbitz.

Southwest flys from Long Island to Salt Lake. They have some $99. one way fares. They dont fly direct, there is 1 stop

If you can fly Southwest, that's the way I would go. They generally fly larger planes in and out than Delta does (at least from Oakland this is the case). Their prices are generally better too.

Thanks guys.

I tried Southwest, but the cheapest round trip I can get is close to $300, with the plane making at least one stop, and arriving in the middle of the night. Going to try Orbitz now!!

My strategy is to use Orbitz to get an idea of who flies where and when, and an estimated cost. From there I usually go to the airline websites to see if the prices or flight times offered are better. All things being equal I prefer to book directly with the airline because there are often bonus miles for booking online and they usually have a more lenient change policy.

good luck!

I agree. I've also found that when I attempt to book the "cheap" flights I find on these sites, they're already gone.

Have you tried JetBlue?

Sometimes they have $99 one-way fares. Nice planes, direct flights. Their schedules aren't always the most convenient (especially SLC to NY is usually a red-eye), but they're good/cheap.

Jet Blue opening new routes

Jet Blue is just now promoting new service from Hartford and Boston to Salt Lake. Grab it while you can.

Hi and thanks.

I don't see any service out of Hartford on Jet Blue. I do see they are now flying out of Boston, but that airport is at least three hours away.

Am I missing something about Hartford?

Thanks,

Sharon

Just saw this with Kayak...$277 JFK to SLC on March 10. Just picked a day out of the air. Delta has a slightly higher fare. Will JFK do it?

JFK > SLC
SLC > JFK
JetBlue Airways 8:35p 11:15p
11:45p 5:25a

Thanks L...I just don't think Rachel (or my other kids really) can tolerate a red-eye on the way home. Plus, the Connecticut Mastery tests are on that Monday.

We need to be there March 4th, by the way!

Thanks for looking though...and BTW...I talked to that woman at Summit today and will give you a call!
