Thumbs up Now... Why Can't All Airlines Do This??

I am soooo impressed with Hawaiian Airlines. I've just received an email AND a phone call from them alerting us of a flight change on our trip to Kauai next month. This was a first time for us. Not once has any other airline notified us of a flight change And you and I both know, the flight times change quite often, especially if you book the tickets in advance.

Thumbs UP, Hawaiian Airlines!!! Mahalo, BIG TIME!!!

Hmmm, I've always gotten notified by United of flight changes. Generally through a phone call.

Correction: Make that two emails notifications from Hawaiian Airlines.

We never fly on United, so that's good to hear. We mainly fly with American Airlines. They have NEVER called or emailed us. I have to always make sure to check online for any changes. There have been many times where our seats would be totally messed up, different aircraft, flight numbers, etc. etc. I just wish AA could be as considerate as Hawaiian Airlines.

Well, gee whiz. Maybe it's only AA that doesn't notify their customers. Hrmph!!

Just a thought...did you go online and view your reservations for American? You have to fill out the portion that says "flight notification" giving them an email and a phone #. It appears from looking at it that they only notify of changes 90 days or less. After reading your post I just checked mine to make sure I had done that.

I received an email notification from Delta about my flight changes. It worked out fine as I made some more changes while during that period.

I always fill out the flight notification email through AA. It has never worked. To this day, I have never received any kind of notification from them regarding a flight change. The only thing I do receive is a red highlighted info whenever I log into my account and view "My Reservations".

Good to know about American. I'll keep watch as our trip is not until June. We've flown with them alot but I honestly can't remember if we've received notification of changes.

I have always gotten emails from Northwest with the flight changes. They are pretty much all I fly, so I don't have anything to compare with.

Ya'll are lucky. I feel neglected, deprived, left out... need I go on? I wonder why AA can't be as considerate as the other airlines? It doesn't seem like it would take that much effort.

Continental did not notify us when they added a connection and about 5 hours to our flight to Maui. Luckily, I noticed it and called (several calls were needed) to get rerouted to have only one stop.

Angry Not a word from Delta

I booked in August through II Travel for SF to Orlando. We leave Saturday and I recieved a notice of change of flight from II Monday in the mail. I already knew about the flight changes (both times AND flight numbers) only because when I called the Disney customer service to confirm our reservation and book magical express reservations the woman there checked the flights and told me they were changed. I have yet to hear from Delta. Interval did update me but only 1 week before we depart. At least the changes are not too disruptive and our schedule will not be very different than we had planned originally. Deregulation of the airlines has not been all that great for the consumer. JMHO

United left phone mesages and e-mails the other day for minor schedule changes to our flight next month to Miami.

Question:

We booked our airfare through Delta's partner, Alaska Airlines. Who would contact us if there has been a schedule change?

Last year we showed up for a United flight (the only non-stop of the day from SFO to Philadelphia) for a weekend wedding. The flight had been moved up by two hours and had just left! I asked why we had not been contacted since I bought the tickets online and United had my e-mail address and phone number. They had no answer except to say that we should have been notified. The agent said that we could get a flight out three days later. We were scheduled to be home in two days! Anyway, the supervisor was able to get us on a flight very quickly and, despite a brief stopover, it turned out fine.

I always check flights before leaving but for whatever reason failed to do so this one time and it was a near-disaster. All other airlines have notified us of changes and United has done so on other occasions.

Even AirTran notify us that our flight to Florida had changed by 1 minute. Had to laugh , but on the other hand was glad they took the time to call to let us know of the time change.

Angry II Travel didn't tell us either

I have had numerous changes made to my Delta reservations to the Bahamas, including flight cancellations, changes from direct to connecting flights, and changes of aircraft that caused my seats to disappear, and heard nothing from Delta or II Travel. I always provide my email address, but they have not used it to contact me. I have had to keep on top of this by logging in and checking online every day.

I have had the same problem with AA. The only airline that notifies us consistenly is Continental (probably because DH is Gold Elite)

Angry Thanks

Thanks for this post. I checked our flights in May to Alaska and they had about an hours earlier departure time. I will continue to check, by then it may have changed back again.

We flew Hawaiian Air about 5 years ago and I found them to be very unhelpful. We were flying from LA to Honolulu and changing planes to Kauai. The plane was very late getting into LA. Kept calling Hawaiian air and they even told me once that the plane had already departed LA when in fact it hadn't arrived yet! Mostly they were clueless about when plane would arrive or depart.

Once we left LA they didn't know if we could go onto Kauai or not and didn't find out until we landed as we were too late for last flight of day. Then we just missed a flight which they could have held for us. We did eventually get a flight there.

I found their customer service to be the worse of any airline. I would think long and hard before flying them from continental US to Hawaii. Hope you have better luck. Maybe they have gotten better.

Wow, I get to quote myself! After I posted this, I got in the mail today, an itinerary from Interval Travel. As I open it, I'm thinking, oh, now I'm going to have to go back and correct my post and say that they did notify me. When I look at the itinerary, I see that it reflects what my reservation looked like two changes ago. AARRGGHH! I called them and they said that they don't actually check the reservation, they just go by what the airline tells them. I don't quite get that, but it seems to me that it's worse to give wrong information than no information at all.

Moral of the story: Check, check and recheck your reservations!

I recently found my Spirit Air flight to Ft. Myers went from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. They didn't notify me, I went online to check. This new time didn't work for us so Spirit allowed me to cancel. We got another flight with AirTran.

If I hadn't checked it would not have been good.
