I exchanged my 2012 Marriott Cypress Harbor for Grand Lodge Peak 7 for May of next year. We were planning on going as it looks like a great resort, but we have now decided not to go there. We have decided to meet up with my son who moved to Denver in May and spend time with him there instead. Can any of you give me information on what my options are? I had deposited it with II and made the exchange thru them.
Thanks,
Deb

You can cancel the exchange, forfeit your exchange fee, and get your deposit back.

You can keep the exchange and gift it to a friend or family member.

As you may or may not already know, II does not permit you to rent exchanges, and even if the did - May would be a weak rental.

I'd cancel and get my deposit back if it were me.

Would II just put it back in my account and how long would I have to use it?

You have a year from the cancel date, so you might want to strategically plan your cancellation. Just don't wait until the 60-day mark, or your replacement week will be restricted.

Unless things have changed, once you trade the replacement week, it's a final transaction (it can't be cancelled again).

Will II put my Marriott back in my account to trade and can I request resorts again and still get the Marriott preference?

You get a replacement week, not your actual Marriott week. Regarding the preference, I think I've seen mixed answers on that.

It's been a while, but I've received the Starwood preference on Starwood replacement weeks in the past. Hopefully you'll hear from an experienced Marriott owner soon -- preferably someone with a recent cancel.

That is still the case.

Any Point in Cancelling trade earlier ? outside 60 day window?

So Am I correct that there is really no advantage to cancelling much before the 60 day mark? (I have 8 months till then on an Eagle Nest 2 br I am thinking i will need to cancel, Late september) Unless I am wanting to use that deposit for a current trade?

I learned one thing and I do not know if this will help you: If you have request first search and find something you can use later on, you may talk to II about upgrade your current GT7 reservation to that one and pay for one more exchange fee.

I do see where this could be helpful, thanks!
