When you buy a Marriott gift card they are giving a 10% bonus after you apply their activation code. What I want to know is can we use gift cards to pay maintenance fee's with this year? I know one year I did this and was able to pay MF's by adding a 4 before the gift card # online. Does anyone know if that will work this year? I don't want to get stuck with $hundreds in gift cards I have no use for if it doesn't work this year. Thanks!

Apparently that won't work this year as they are not visa related. Someone posted that they had tried the 4, and it did not work. Too bad, that was a great source of added points!

It is correct that the new cards are not Visa Debit based gift cards now. Marriott switched vendors for their gift cards earlier this year. Others have also found that they were not able to use older gift cards to pay MFs by adding the 4 to the beginning. So it seems this was a one year deal. Of course it would have been more than a year had we figured it out sooner.
