I am looking at buying a combo of RCI weeks and points from a reseller. The combo is approx 25k points and 2 weeks of timeshare (worth another 40k points per the reseller.)
Would appreciate pointer on the right questions to ask or things to be careful about before jumping into buying my first TS. Thanks. Last edited by travel maniac; February 7, 2006 at 03:02 PM. |

Resorts: SVR-Fountains (RCI Points - thinking about joining SVN) |
If it cost only a $100 then it sounds like a good deal...
Just remember the $/point price...most here focus on the cost of maintenance fees per point... My first timeshare purchase last year (RCI Points Resort) cost me: Maintenance - $0.0111/point (not too bad) My second timeshare purchase last year (RCI Weeks Resort - which I use for Points for Deposit) cost me: Maintenance - $0.0089 (a little bit better than the first purchase) You can check out the RCI Points Exchange Grid to find out how many points the weeks may be worth... The other problem is that you may need to pay multiple closing costs, one for each resort. Also, always perform a complete due diligence on every resort in the package. I would much prefer to get a good deal on each of the piece parts than get them from one broker. They obviously got a good deal on each of the pieces and bumped it up to sell to you. Don't forget to add in the $26 points for deposit fee that RCI now charges when you do your economic assessment of the deal. The bottom line: I wouldn't do it. |

Thanks
I can't imagine what I would do without the help of the TUGgers!
I firmly believe in "if it sounds too good to be true, I better be careful!" I had asked the seller where these weeks resorts are and he indicated Argentina! Thanks leejaime and Bocabum99. Nick |

No problem. I'll bet the points resort in that package was from Australia.
The broker is very creative in bundling his packages. |

Boca, the RCI Points package quoted to the OP does not even come close to the several RCI Points packages we have discussed for on going cost effectiveness.
