I will be staying at the Villa del Palmar in Cabo San Lucas in June. This will be my first time in the area. What is the weather like during that time? My wife is concerned about hurricane season. When is that? What activites do you suggest that I do, where to eat, and places to visit? Thanks.

Hurricane season is late summer-early Fall. Even then the eastern Pacific off of Mexico doesn't have nearly the same intensity or frequency of hurricanes as does the west Atlantic/Carribbean area. (The water is colder in the Pacific, and hurricanes feed off of warm water.)

It might help if you tell us what type of things you like to do. There's great fishing and golf, good snorkeling and diving, watersports, lots of party bars, Todos Santos, Cabo Pulmo, La Paz, etc.

We have been to Cabo many times since 1997. Last year we went from june 9th through the 15 th. The Weather was very pleasant, warm days and cool evenings. We thought it would be hotter. You can look at historical weather on weather.com.

Our favorite restaurant is not to far from your hotel which is Edith's www.edithscabo.com It is excellent but a little expensive. Another restaurant we always try to go to is Villa Serena. You will need to take a cab there but it is reasonable and very good. You can use www.loscabosguide.com or www.cabovillas.com for Cabo info.

Instead of catching the taxi for $8 to town from Villa del Palmar you can save alot of money catching the public bus for 8 pesos which stops out in front of the front gate. They look like small white school buses.

Many places to eat in Cabo. Make sure to venture off the main drags to get to the many other mom and pop restaurants which are less expensive.

If you are a fisherman, Cabo is the place to be. Book a trip with the many charter boats available. June should be good time for many species, marlin, dorado, tuna etc.

I'm headed down there in July, have a great time!

Go to www.tripadvisor.com Click on Mexico, then Mexico forums, then on the pull down menu, pull down Baja California. The Baja folk are very friendly and there is a wealth of information on the site--great restaurant lists, car rental advice, etc. (It's a free site, like Tug)

I second the recommendation of Edith's for dinner! We never miss it when we're in Cabo. I also recommend Mi Casa. Beautiful restaurant with good food.

Attic Village -- did you know that VDP just opened a brand new resort next door to the original VDP? The new one is called Villa del Arco and is modeled after Villa Estancia, also a VDP property nearby, which is gorgeous. Don't know if you have the option to transfer your reservation to Villa del Arco, but if you do, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Have a great time!

Buzzmom, thanks for the heads up.

Early last year, I did an exchange for my 2006 use year from the Ko Olina to Villa Del Palmar. We will be going for the week of June 17-24, 2006. We have the 3 bedroom suite for the Villa del Palmar.

Is the Villa Del Arco already opened? I will call Interval tommorrow to check out my options.

I believe they have opened parts of Villa del Arco, but not the entire resort, which I believe is due to fully open in July 2006. It's definitely worth a phone call to see if you can switch. VDP is in a great location and you can't go wrong, but the Arco rooms are going to be much nicer than the original VDP.

Let us know what happens, and how you like VDP, whichever one you stay at. ;)

As far as I know, Villa del Arco does not have any 3 BR units. The 3 BR units at Villa del Palmar are oceanfront with a large hot tub on the deck. You can't beat their location and the units are very large. You also don't have to worry about hallway noise as the 3BR units are at the end of the hallways.
Have a great time!
