Looking for Cancun Resort non-mandatory AI with kitchens

Hi,

My wife are headed to Cancun for a second straight year and are looking for a clean resort not requiring AI fees and having kitchen facilities. I prefer one with a fairly decent beach and surf and my wife is looking for good onsite dining amenties.

Also, any pointers to economical airfares would be appreciated.

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated. We are looking for a mid-may trip.

Bill, I would advise you to consider the Royal Resorts. Here is the web site: www.royalresorts.com You can also check out the classifieds listed above for rentals from individual owners. You will really enjoy this great resort - all are 5 star. We own at the Royal Sands which is closer to the mall and bus stops but all are very good.

We will be staying at the Royal Caribbean and all we hear are great reports. As for airlines, don't you have lots of options being you have O'hare and Midway??

Thanks for the responses. I am beginning to get the feeling that Royal is the royal way to go. I understand they are like the Palace restaurants in that you stay at one and play at all. Is that pretty much true?

As far as airfare goes, yeah we have access to Milwaukee, Ohare and Midway, but prefer the first two. But, I am always of the opinion that you are never too old to learn something new.

I posted this elsewhere but it doesn't show up here. Yes, if you stay at one you have access to all. Also, only those staying at the Royal Resorts have access to them. They are private clubs.

I'm biased but the Royal Resorts have everything you indicated. There is an add in the TUG classifieds for the Royal Mayan for May 20th at an incredible price (not my add). I would also check out www.mexicondo.com for rentals (not my site). For airfares check all the search engines:

When u find a good fare..go to that airlines website and see what the fare is for the same flights.

Flying out of O'Hare, always check Funjet. Great curbside service, and all flights are non-stop. The Royals are the way to go! Been there 7 times, and was finally able to purchase a week just recently. You won't be sorry!

Royal Resorts 1 or 2 Bedroom units all have Full American Style Kitchens.
Each Resort has a onsite convience store and 1 or 2 resturants to choose from.
One breath of fresh air is the Royals don't price gouge you like many other resorts in the area.
