Plan to attend Jazz Fest this Saturday.
One day only... Already have tickets.

Take the shuttle?
Any other advice for a first-time attendee?

If you are staying near the French Quarter, I would take a taxi from Canal St. It's $5 per person if you have 2 or more (rates and rules can change). No need to wait for the bus to load.

Food - shrimp, oysters, crawfish monica, COCHON DE LAIT PO-BOY, Frozen Cafe du monde coffee to start the day, if it's hot or not.

Bring lots of cold water if you can. Or don't bring anything - there may be long lines if you have a back pack that needs to be searched.

I enjoy the blues and jazz tents the best. Wonder around all the stages, they are all good.

Get there 1 hour before the gates open if you want to put a lawn chair down next to a stage.

Get there an hour after the gates open to avoid the initial mob.

Leave an hour before the concerts end to avoid the loooong lines for taxis.

Leave 2 hours after the last concert to avoid the crowds.

Write back and tell us about your experience.

I'm jealous. You'll get to see & hear my fave Latin artist, Juan Luis Guerra!

I was there last Saturday and it was a great experience! It was crowded this time, but nowhere near as bad as last year.

I thought Billy Joel was good, but really enjoyed the Snug Harbor jazz club afterwards also.

Last year I went for the first weekend and the crowds for Sat and Sunday were insane.. Wall to wall people and took over 1 hr to get a taxi after Bruce Springsteins concert.
