I'm headed to Sabal Palms---will update with a Review

Next week, I'm off to Sabal Palms. There hasn't been a review done for three years; so I'll jot some notes down and do a review.

Anything new I need to know about the place, anyone?

Can you inquire about the fencing? It looks like the Marriott World Trade Center is getting ready for some construction. A parking lot and other areas between Sabal Palms and the conference center were sectioned off with chain link fence. I was busy with a convention there earlier this year so I didn't get a chance to ask what was happening.

Before I go, I'm wondering about three things:

I have read conflicting reports about refurbishment----two different people who were there in January 2006 had differing opinions----one said the place has been refurbished, while the other one said it had not.

I have heard that the fitness center is open 24 hours from some sources---but only 8am-8pm from other sources. Are there 2 workout facilities? (8am is not nearly early enough for my wife).

Is there internet access (wireless) available at the units or World Center---we are staying two nights in the Hotel portion as well.

Did you post in the Marriott Resort System board?

Dang-it! I wish I had answers for you. We will be at OLCC beginning next week and my parents will be arriving at their home resort (you guessed it) Sabal Palms the week following. It has been 7 years since I was there and the units had been refurbished but not being the owner I don't have details. I remember a fitness center but that was too many years ago. If Sabal Palms has a fitness center you still may be able to use the World Centers fitness center too. And my parents are not internet users when they travel so I never heard them discuss if Marriott has provided that to the timeshare units.

I hope we both have a great week next week. Unless I read your timeline incorrect and you are down there this week, then I hope they save the nice weather for our arrival next week!

We stayed at Sabal Palms last October. I really can't tell you whether our Villa was refurbished or not. I am hoping not, because is was showing age.

Yes the Villas have wireless internet, free.
All that said, even not being thrilled with the condition of the Villa we would stay there again. Having access to the World Center is worth it by itself.

Sweet! Your tip just saved me $100! My parents will be staying at Sabal Palms during our second week. I can use their wireless internet instead of paying OLCC $100/week.
