We are in Aruba now and we are looking to purchase a resale at the Marriott Aruba Surf. The property is beautiful. River pool beautiful. However, the pier in front of the entire Marriott Surf property is still there and while we have heard on this board and other sites that the pier will be removed and a beach prepared with water entrance and huts the locals are telling us that the owner of the pier has been in court fighting and will never give the pier area up. We are very confused. While the Marriott Ocean Club (next door) and the Marriott Hotel (next to the OC) has a beachfront with huts I cannot see how this will ever accomodate all the units Marriott is building. Please advise on what you know or where we can get accurate information.

Thank you.

PS weather great.

I am sure the local information may be more up to date but I got a letter last week to Marriott Surf Club owners saying the pier was being moved but not specific about the timing.

why not buy resale at the ocean club??

Even if the piers are moved, IMO, there still won't be enough beach area to accomodate everyone at all times. I agree with Irish, buy resale at the Ocean Club.

Marriott today said that they are building a new pier to the left of the existing one and relocating the restaurant to near the pier and building a two story one insted of the one story.

Quite frankley we liked the Oean Club as well and will get to see the units on Friday. The Surf club units are beautiful. We will be looking for the best deal we can get. My husband is more comfortable with seeing the beach completed before he buys and did like the Ocean Club too.

More to follow. We are in no rush. Will not need a unit till 2007.

I too believe the beach will be very crowded no matter how much they develop but Cannes and southern Europe are pretty tight as well. This is only a week and not a permanent home for us.

Thanks again for the feedback. Will keep you posted.

I received a letter last week from Marriott and just today from II stating the dock removal and 'moving' over of the dock and restauarnt will start soon and continue thru April 2007......

Look around for a resale at a good price, they are definitely out there.

As Surf Club owners we received a letter as well stating that the work for the dock relocation will begin soon. The Surf Club is a beautiful property and we just need to be patient this year. In the end the Marriott beach will be large enough for all Marriott guests to enjoy.

Our letter said that portions of the beach will remain open. That implies that a part will be closed. We are confirmed for late June. Will any arrangements be made to accommodate everyone on the beach? This will be our first time in Aruba and really enjoy the beach.

Aruba is one, long beach and all of it is open tothe public......
It is wonderful to walk north from the Marriott along the beach and see where the Wind Surfers and Kite Boarders are flying across the water.
Walk South and pass all the Big Hotels....stop in at the Hyatt or the Radisson Beach bar...
It might be a little inconvenient for the next year...but it will be worth it in the end....a truely beautiful resort.

I know this is big, but I hope everyone can see.....what will happen at the Surf Club by next year...this drawing is in the sales area.

Hmmmmm...the TUG software must have automatically reduced the size.....well, you get the idea!

We are in Aruba now and they are begining to work on the pier according to the work men on site. There are palapas being put on the beach and one can walk to the water from the property however access is not in front yet. We were told hopefully spring of 2007 but that was from those working onsite.
