Could a Hilton Club NY Owner PM me please

still looking for help/advice. Or, does anyone know of a Hilton Club owners forum (yahoo group, et al)?

What's your question? Is it really unique to Hilton Club NY ownership?
You just need to make the reservation in the renter’s name via a Guest Confirmation.

Since there’s a small number of Hilton Club NY owners on TUG, you might have a problem finding a NY owner that has rented.
As long as you're not plannning to build a commerical business based on Hilton rentals and competing with Hilton.com, I don't think they will come after you for the occasional rental ;)

From the 2013 Club Rules for Hilton Club NY - http://www.2013clubprogram.com/content/2013-Hilton-Club-Rules.pdf

thanks :)

I'm actually struggling with the amount to charge. Figured I'd try and connect with a long-time owner who might have gone through the process and has a feel for what a "fair" price might be.

You just need to find out what these are currently renting for and price your week accordingly.
This sticky on the TUG Buying, Selling, Renting forum will help you determine a good price - "How to Rent Your Timeshare"

From How to Rent Your Timeshare - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43
....After you have gathered as much evidence as you can on what similar weeks at your resort rent for, consider that you likely don't have the same advertising clout that the resort and some other listings do. If you choose to use any or many of the sources you have searched to advertise your week, you should be able to get as much rent as anyone else on that site. But if you really want to rent it, price it below what others are asking and definitely at least 25%-40% below what your resort asks for similar rentals.

FOR EXAMPLE
I took a look at the TUG Marketplace and without comparing what others are asking, I can see that this Hilton Club NY studio for the July 4th week in 2014 (see below) is reasonable compared to what Hilton.com is asking for it ($1495 vs over $2,700).
NOTE: This is not my rental and I don't know who is renting this week. I just found it on the TUG Marketplace.

Good Luck :)

Great advice.

On a side note. Can anyone confirm FREE Parking is included if you are staying at the Hilton Club. Not implying that a rental car is needed in NYC but for guests who may driving to the resort that is a tremendous bonus.

I can't confirm that there is free parking, but I would assume that there is a charge for parking. I walk through the parking lot entrance all the time, there are signs for what the rate is, but I have never heard nor seen of a free rate for Hilton Club exchanges. At NYC Parking Rates I would assume no free overnight rentals.

thanks a bunch!

On the question of parking.. nope, not included.. not even for Hilton Club owners  I think the rate I last saw was $51/night but don't hold me to it.

One more tip.....If you decide to reserve a specific week for rent, pick a high demand week ;)

Here's a link to Interval International's Travel Demand Index for NYC. You can use it to help identify high demand periods for NYC - http://www.intervalworld.com/images/tdi-3.gif (click on the image to make it larger).

I also suggest reading the responses to this recent thread from a newbie

You're welcome :)

Also consider Frommer's advice on high demand period for NYC resulting in expensive hotel rates.

From Frommers - http://www.frommers.com/destinations/newyorkcity/0021020006.html

Money Matters

Hotel prices are always fairly high in New York, though the current economic troubles have softened the market considerably; still, you might want to follow these rough seasonal guidelines.

Bargain hunters might want to visit in winter, between the first of the year and early April. Sure, you might have to bear some cold weather, but that’s when hotels are suffering from the post-holiday blues, and rooms often go for a relative song — a song in this case may mean a room with a private bathroom for as little as $150, or even less. AAA cardholders can do even better in many cases (around 10% savings at certain hotels). However, be aware that the occasional convention or event, such as February’s annual Fashion Week, can sometimes throw a wrench in your winter savings plans. Spring and fall are traditionally the busiest and most expensive seasons after holiday time. Don’t expect hotels to be handing you deals, but you may be able to negotiate a decent rate.

The city is drawing more families these days, and they usually visit in the summer. Still, the prospect of heat and humidity keeps some people away, making July and the first half of August a cheaper time to visit than later in the year; good hotel deals are often available.

During the Christmas season, expect to pay top dollar for everything. The first 2 weeks of December—the shopping weeks—are the worst when it comes to scoring an affordable hotel room; that’s when shoppers from around the world converge on the town to catch the holiday spirit and spend, spend, spend. But Thanksgiving can be a great time to come, believe it or not: Business travelers have gone home, and the holiday shoppers haven’t yet arrived. It’s a little-known secret that most hotels away from the Thanksgiving Day Parade route have empty rooms, and they’re usually willing to make great deals to fill them.
